Marijuana Debate - Pekin, IL

Keep marijuana out of the drug lords hands and make it legal.

Pekin used to be a hoppin' place back in the day. I can remember Head East playin' at the Stoned Toad downtown. There were Concerts at the Skating Rink. One time it was Styx, REO Speedwagon and KISS. I remember that inperticularly because the Police started a riot. I lived in Bellview in the early 70s, and Farmdale Road near Morton in the mid 70s. I was in several local bands. The most memorable was called Cold Iron. David Lee Murphy was our drummer. We broke up just before being saught after by Dan Fogleburg to audition for Golden Voice Studios, right after he bought it. I had moved to California after the breakup. Head East got their break at the same time. Mike Somerville, the guitarist for Head East went to High School at Woodruff in Peoria with Fogleburg. I had a Brother-in-law and two very good friends who also went to high school with them. Pekin was a city full of youth everywhere living an open busy life, in the public's eye. Many smoking pot daily. There was much more social living going on then though.
Folks gathered together everyday and socialized and L-I-V-E-D. Things have sure changed haven't they. But, everyone feared my generation. And wanted us off the streets and out of sight. Now you have what you have. An indoor society.
If I were to say something to todays youth as insriration ?
Get outside and L-I-V-E ! Gather in the local parks People. That is why they are there. Don't just go and think you are there to do drugs ? We were a very active generation. Frisbees, softball, basketball, Rock Bands ... please Y'all, get out and live.

It just is wrong

I don't think you dumb stoners realize if it's legalized (which I do support) you're not just gonna be able to carry it around in your car and toke up at will. There will still be children around and there's such thing as a contact high. If most states are going away from tobacco in public places what makes you think you're going to be partying it up in the park. You can't just throw down some oxycotin in the park, hell, most parks you can't even have a beer. Grow up.

As I said in my post. Use the parks. Don't think that you are there to use drugs.
Alcohol isn't legal in the parks today either. But, gollee, use the parks. Today the Nation's at it's highest obesity percentage in history. Young people are lazy these days ! And what I am doing right now is part of it, on the computor. Exercise is the most important thing in life to your health. I know about health, I am a cancer survivor and was under fifty when I battled cancer. I cherrish my health, and don't do drugs, drink or use tobacco. Though in my youth I was a smoker, it never made me obnoxious, lude or degrading as alcohol would. And the last thing I ever wanted to do was drive. I know some have but, they were usually better drivers stoned than straight because they were so scared you give total concentration. Now a crackhead or a methhead or a pillhead, I'd rather ride with a drunk.

Legalize and tax it. No one has ever died smoking pot. Many have died smoking cigarettes. Where's the logic??

It's all about the hypocrites of the United States. That's all, there are still too many hypocrites paying to keep marijuana illegal.

Do you understand why cigarettes and alcohol are taxed? It's because they kill people. It makes no sense to tax marijuana especially since everyone will be growing it in their houses. I'm not saying they won't tax it but the tax will be unjustified.

Well makesmesick your one of the closed minded people mentioned earlier. If you knew anything about it , then you would know that you dont have to burn it which is actually how you release those carcinogens, not to mention even though it is "theorized" to have 50% more the studies have shown that it is less likely to cause lung cancer and colorectal cancer as tobacco. So maybe instead of jumping on your moms tit you should do a little research for yourself for a change. Trust me, Im sure you will find a lot of those old mommy tales have been proved wrong
