It changes nothing in society. People that live the lifestyle of "getting high" will continue with or without the legalization. Legal status makes it less attractive to the attractiveness of "rebellion".

Too much time and energy is spent on a drug war that is ineffective. Marijuana has been proven over and over to be no more harmful than alcohol, and the legalizing and regulating it, as we do with alcohol, will serve to beef up the state coffers, and put a monkey wrench in the business dealings of the drug lords to our south. Prohibition was a disaster, our war on drugs is proving to be no less.

Marijuana serves as a medicinal benefit for people with diagnosis but are unable t purchase it from a legal source. This needs to be changed. Also if you can still drink in casinos and not be pulled over for drunk driving which happens every day of the week s we all know. Put police at exits of the hotels for sobriety check, people would be amazed. It should be legalized as is drinking is. This is 2010 not 1950.

I take 7 different prescription drugs daily for pain and other medical conditions. These medicatiions make me feel nauseas and marijuana counter acts this feeling and helps ease some of the pain. If legalized I wouldn't have to sneak around to obtain it and the money would go to the state instead of some grower or other criminal.

Legalize all of it and then stop wasting money on re-hab for those who get hooked on it from their lack of self discipline. I don't know about drop in drug violence. People will always want the stronger stuff. Gov't won't legalize that.

Just like tax on gasoline, cigs, booze etc. It won't be long before poor people complain about the repressive tax on dope. What we should do is legalize it. And when people prove they can't handle it, put them in storage in Yucca Mtn and pump the caves full of dope smoke. That will keep them off the streets, out of a car and the rest of us safe.

Alcohol is legal and it kills many each year...marijuana does not kill.

The majority of the violent acts committed where marijuana is concerned are acts perpetrated by the police while arresting casual users.

Get a grip, people... One view is that government is simply supporting themselves and at our expense. Our judicial system and law enforcement spend billions of dollars a year investigating, arresting, prosecuting, and fighting the "crime" associated with possessing or selling this so-called evil weed. It keeps them in business. The bureaucracy is always going to feed the bureaucracy first. The big brother mentality has gone overboard on this issue. Legalize it and establish some realistic guidelines to govern it. Keep it simple. There's a concept...

It is a violation of our constitutional rights to deny us natural remedy with minor side effects and have DRS feed us crap that has worse side effects than the cure to what ails you!
