Legalize it!

It's less harmful than most "legal" drugs.

(No, I'm not a user, but I could care less if you are.)

Legalize it. Tax it. Empty our prisons and save even more money. It's silly to keep marijuana users in prison. They didn't hurt anyone at all.

It's less harmful than alcohol and most prescription pain killers (which are basically heroin).

You just want to legalize marijuana so you can smoke it all day. You will not be able to go to work because like an alcoholic you will have a sickness and then qualify for Government Social Security disability. I oppose legalizing marijuana because it will only encourage more whining since you are all just victims of "life". Just grow-up and deal with it. Quit your belly aching! Oh, it is only for medicinal purposes. Sure, you are all sick! Right! It is the same with abortion. If qualifying for abortion means you were raped; then liberals view all sex as rape. Smoking marijuana can not help you. Instead of a "wish bone get a "back bone."

This is the problem with fundamentalism of any kind - people develop an attitude that they already know all there is to know about a subject, and they refuse to believe the truth simply because it does not agree with their mistaken views about life which they are unwilling to re-examine. Way to pull the wool over your own eyes, while spouting out un-truths and tired old stereotypes which have nothing to do with reality. Many intelligent, hardworking, respected businesspeople use cannabis medically as well as for recreational use, and since this is a free country, that should be their right. If I want to come home after a hard day of working 10-12 hours and smoke cannabis, I should be allowed to. Especially if everyone else is allowed to drink alcohol, which is far more harmful. Why don't you check out www.JaySelthofner.com and www.NorthernWINORML.org and get a bit of and actually read the information and see what you think then... worse case scenario, you don't believe any of it and nothing changes. Best case scenario, you do some research and find out the TRUTH and then there will be one more educated person in the world who knows the truth, which is never a bad thing. The drug war (aka, "war on taxpaying american citizens", or if you prefer "war against personal freedom") can be linked to many very serious problems, both social and economical. We could address so many problems in our society by changing our draconian drug laws, while bringing jobs to many different sectors, simply by discussing and ultimately changing the un-just drug laws that are currently in place.

No good can come of legalizing marijuana. Regardless of what the potheads want or Jay Selthofner thinks. Are we that stupid that this is even an issue? Don't want God in public, get called names for having God in private - but society does want pot. Sheesh.

Two wrongs don't make a right, pinhead. A screwed up nation should does not legalize the screw-ups. Doing so would only screw up the nation even more, and create more screwed up, blunted-brains living off taxpayer funded welfare and other programs meant to help those really in need (not support lazy no-goods with greedy hands out).

Blah Blah Blah! Legalizing marijuana is not gonna put our country into turmoil. It's illegal, yes......it's here....yes! If it were legalized, it would be regulated just like alcohol is. Remeber your history? Alcohol was illegal too. That didn't work so well. Do some research on the amount of tax dollars brought in by the sale of alcohol. Now, where would that money come from if not from taxes? Making marijuana legal here would take the upper hand away from the dealers. BTW, most of the people that I know that do use it, make more money than I do. They don't live free off the system. So, in my opinion, that is a poor excuse not to make it legal.

Would this issue be as controversial if marijuana were not smoked, but taken in tablet or capsule form? Smoking it is worse than cigarettes for your lungs, so I can't see doctors prescribing it in it's "natural" form for pain. If it could be controlled as far as quality and free from herbicides or pesticides, I think it would be a wonderful and naturally grown painkiller. In that way, I am all for legalization. Those who will smoke it for recreation, well, they will still do it whether it is legal or not.

Well said Princeton resident, in other countrys some places years ago started looking the other way when it came to arresting people for marijuana and found that by doing so there became a less promblem with harder drugs.

there is research being doen that shows THC is actually very benefical and can be used as an herbal supliment. however that is only when cannibus is in its raw state. in its raw state it is more like a vegetable. once heated, liek through baking or smoking its chemical makeup changes and THC bcomes an addictive narcotic.
in its raw form..the research juices it and then adds the juice to a fruit drink since it is very acidic and bitter...it is an inflamatory, pain reliever, boosts teh immune system ect. more research needs ot be done and cannibus plants continued to be breeded to increase that benefical acid so it can be more readily utilized as an herbal suppliment.
as for legalizing smoking of pot. the smoke itself has less toxins and allergins then cigarette smoke does. so in that respect there is less health risks from the smoke itself. as for the narcotic effects..couldnt it be comparable to alchohol comsumption which is also legal.
a drug is a drug. pot smoking is jsut as dangerous as tobacco and alchohol and other drugs. legal or not it needs to be viewed as a drug when in a heated state. people think that tobacco and alshohol are not that dangerous because they are legal and easy to obtain and so theri abuse is greater and has greater affects on society then other drugs.
legalizing cannibus would open the door to greater research into the benfits of the raw cannibus plant and perhaps help fight that sterotype that cannibus has gotten from popular media. it coudl be developed nationwide as an herbal suppliment which would benefit a huge portion of the population and reduce its reliance on presciption medications for certian conditions and sideeffects of necessary medications and treatments.
i assume if made legal it would be regualted like alchohol and tobacco is or is supposed to be.
