Marijuana Debate - Grants Pass, OR

eliminate gangs, money vested interests both
public (prison guard union, police etc.) and
private. stop drug related attrocities, criminalization of marijuana is huge money machine so will continue for those who prosper.

Revenue would help state. Prison population would decrease.

Yes...and, a generation of young kids stumbling along stoned out of their heads, without any ambitions in life, other than getting another joint. Thousands of your fellow Oregonians, driving 70+ mph through Cave Junction, while higher than a kite. Millions of already obese Americans, stuffing their munchie mugs with multi-bags of potato chips, packing on yet more pounds.

It should be the individuals choice not the governments! Tobacco and alcohol is legal and very damaging and addicting. Marijuana has many benefits to people without the damaging side effects and does not have addictive characteristics. READ THE FACTS PEOPLE!!!

why should the government be the only one able to make money from "drugs"? How about the honest joe trying to make a living for his family. money changes hand with everything. I could be building cars, growing cannabis, or catching fish, and somehow uncle sam wants a part of my earnings. I am helping make the world a better place, because I am providing jobs for others, paying bills on time, and educating my children. Have the government work on more important things like bringing back all of our resources from overseas, ending the ruse of a war, creating social healthcare that works for everyone.

There are a million different ways to cope with things in your life and smoking dope isn't a healthy way of dealing with it. Figure something else out.

I believe that marijuana is a legitimate business. None the less extremely lucrative for our local economy.

How nice of you to generalize. Where did you learn about Marijuana? Some 70's info film? I know MANY MANY very productive goal orientated tax paying individuals. Do you drink alcohol? Booze is FAR worse of a problem substance them Marijuana. How silly you are.

It's also interesting that many who use this same argument against Cannabis are raging alcoholics or are dealing with another type of addiction. Everyone has a crutch they turn to while under stress. I'd rather see someone smoke a bowl or munch a Cannabis edible, partaking a substance that helps to calm them down, than drink a 6 pack and get hyped up and possibly get into more trouble. LOL When did I ever admit to being a stoner, and I personally think COPS is one of the worst programs on television, but some of the stuff they show is funny as hell with the handful of shows I have had the misfortune of watching. THe only times I do watch is when they're in a city I've either been to, or lived in, to see if anyone I know is one of the perps. One Portland episode had a guy that looked like one of my cousin's neighbor.

ahh poor you convinced by the goverment eh?! if u knew anything about the affects of marijuana you would know that a pothead is not driving 70 mph through cave junction, that would be a tweeker, but if you knew anything about this community you would know there are doctors, PASTORS, lawyers, accountants who use medical marijuana & im sure they are much more intelligent then you. do you believe EVERYTHING the goverment tells you? there has not been one reported death by overdose of marijuana, yet people die every month from meth and alcohol, AND PAIN PILLS PRESCRIBED BY YOUR DOCTOR.. why dont you do a little research, smoke a joint, and then get back online. I smoke pot and im pretty sure im not obese...maybe you are?
