This should be treated as a medicine...it is a drug and should need prescription for cancer, glaucoma, chemo patients...known to relieve nausea due to chemo.

The problem with marijuana is that using it will eventually lead to stronger, more addictive drugs.

That's what wrong. You have doctors given drugs. They are legal and no prison time. Legal drug addicts. To many walking around now.

That's another reason it should remain illegal. It makes you stupid! In fact, the damage stays in your brain forever, that's why it takes less and less to get you high over time.Further,a DUI is a DUI anyway you smoke or otherwise imbibe in it.

Marijuana, like any drug has it positives and negatives. As a medicine, it can ease the pain, nausea, and anxiety in cancer patients. It's been shown to increase eating in those with little appetite and also lessen feelings of anxiety. Marijuana is a victim of government propaganda. It can be an intoxicant, if used as such, but obviously the scope of the "prescription" would be the same as any opiate medicine that instructs the user to not drive or operate heavy machinery while under its influence.
Aside from that, smoking marijuana produces different effects in most people. but has never been connected to PHYSICAL addiction. Why should we tolerate drugs like oxycontin and fentanyl when their addiction potential is MASSIVE, both physically and mentally. These drugs lead people to rob pharmacies and lie to family, friends, and loved ones in pursuit of their drug. Most of the time this began at the doctor's office, where the drug was prescribed. I haven't heard of any of the dispensaries being broken into by addicted potheads...OHHH wait...it's only the DEA that is doing that. Choose your battles, Marijuana has benefits that so strongly outweigh the negatives, it's medical use can't be disputed. Every day parents feed their children amphetamines, but yet that's ok. This won't change anyone's mind, but lord let's put things into perspective.

Government propaganda?Conspiracy?Sounds like typical effects from the mind altering THC!I suppose anything can be cross referenced for a medical purpose.Tell that to the parents of a burn out that won't do anything but lay around and eat all day.
Propaganda your perspective.

I really don't have anything against it. I used to be a user myself but it haven't used in many years. It will be much easier on people to just legalize on something that's been around for so long, and make it useful than to hid what's been hidden for many years

People get in car accidents who are alcohol free and drug free so do not say doing marijuana will cause you to wreck a car. In areas where marijuana is in use they have found that more people do not go for higher drugs in fact it has fallen in use. Most people that smoke pot stay at home or where ever they smoke it. Legalize it and tax it. Watch how much money the goverment could make.

Yeah, I think it should be legal. At some point you gotta let people make their own decisions, I'm sick of the nanny state. In the case of marijuana which is one of the most benign substances around(both in terms of it's affect on the body and its affect on behavior)its really a no-brained. As for the comment stating that marijuana causes permanent brain damage, this is completely unfounded, there were some early US "studies" which were essentially manufactured to give intellectual-ammo to the proponents of the war-on-drugs. The findings of such studies have never been repeated by modern-day studies. Also for those who are proponents of the "gate-way" theory, while I certainly wont be able to prove you wrong, please consider the following. To accept the gate-way premise you must believe there is something in the way marijuana affects a person which causes them to crave other drugs, this seems like a rather odd effect. It seems much more likely that the "gate-way" effect is the result of a very soft and benign drug being grouped with the various "hard" drugs in the catagory of being illegal. On the one hand younger marijuana smokers realize they've been lied to in regards to the "dangers" of marijuana and on the other hand they've had to make entry into the underworld of drugs in order to obtain marijuana. These two things combine to make it much more likely that they would be willing to try a harder drug, I'm sure it happens often when dealer doesn't have marijuana and offers another drug instead "well marijuana wasn't bad like everyone said so maybe Ill try this".
