marijuana is far difference from many of the illicit drugs one can find on the streets today. It has been around long before this country was formed. There is no proof whatsoever that it causes death from over usage, unlike many of your man made drugs such as alcohol, meth, crack, etc. Moreover, it is a substance that will never be eradicated for the simple reason that it creates itself naturally, sort of like the air we breathe and the water we drink. The best thing that our govt can do is find a way to tax it. Increase the penalty for other illicit substances that can do far more harm to citizens and allow mj to take the lead as America's favorite drug of choice.

Speaking for myself....Alcohol and cigarettes are proven to kill people EVERYDAY....give me the proof marijuana is doing the same, and maybe then I'll quit. I work full-time, pay my bills and taxes, and my mind business...i've been smoking for over 20 years and have NEVER been in trouble with the law for ANY reason. Legalize it now...maybe hard core drug users will switch to the mellow illegal "drug" knowing they wont get in trouble for doing it.

I agree with you that there are far more subtances out on the streets which are killing people, and the sad thing is that many of them are legal and backed by the legal authorities. If you look at the documentation on the "origins of marijuana in the U.S." you will see just how corrupt the establishment was back at that time. They literally demonized the subtance as the worst of the worst time of drug conservative parents could allow their kids to be exposed to. But alcohol and prescription drugs went unchallenged. Two things are certain to come about in this country which are: the removal of the embargo against the Cuban nation, freeing Americans to travel to the small island and the legalization of mj. Maybe not in our life-time, but they will happen.

We were told that alcoholic beverages were poison and bad for us at one time. Now both the churches and govts at all levels see it as a part of everyday life. What's poison is your "man-made synthetic drugs" such as meth and other hardcore stuff that eat out your brain other body parts. The govt and the society cannot continue to store 1000s of citizens at tax payers expense for low-level non-violent drug crimes such as marijuana consumption. It, just like alcoholic beverages, should be taxed and heavily regulated; and efforts to stamp out meth and other synthetic drugs should be the target of focus.

Do you believe a man should be able to marry a 13 year old if they both agree or one man marrying 6 women, or a woman marrying a goat or somebody walking naked down main street because they choose to?

Do you believe a man should be able to marry a 13 year old if they both agree or one man marrying 6 women, or a woman marrying a goat or somebody walking naked down main street because they choose to? Hahahaha Let me ask you this: do you believe the gov't should give you the freedom to eat a double cheezeburger with 4 strips of bacon, mayo, and half a pound of fries each day of the week? Should you have the right to drink 2 64 ounce jugs of coke every day? Should the govt make a minimum level of healthcare available to nurse you back to health from your bad choices? Or should the govt had stepped in and reframed you from diving into those choices at the very beginning. The prohibition against the use of marijuana is something that a small powerful group of people decided that is right for the masses of society. Go back and look at the origin of marijuana and how it became public enemy #1 to a small number of govt officials back in the 1930ties. They tried to do the same thing with alcohol beverages but it did not stick. Look at the law against prostitution. Gov't officials openly oppose it but they are the ones getting busted for covert participation in the act. Go figure? YOU CAN'T JUST CONTINUE TO ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE SHEEPS!

It's a natural weed which any person and reproduce, unlike alcohol and other man-made killer substances. Maybe in the next 20 years, you will see progress across the nation.
