Airline pilots, train engineers, taxi drivers, long haul truckers, School bus drivers, people driving in general...
I would not want to be on the road with someone high on weed. It's already scary enough with drunk drivers and people on prescription medications all over the roads. Yes, they would make laws against smoking weed and driving BUT it has not stopped anyone as of yet. There are laws in place now for drinking and driving but over 10,000 lost their lives in 2009 to drunk drivers alone. By legalizing it, more people would be under the influence and not care of the out come since there are 40% less police on the roads due to budget cuts, lay-offs and lack of money at the town, city, state levels. If they legalize it, my teenage boys, whom I love, would NEVER be allowed to drive any of the family cars nor would I allow them under my roof. I spent 20 year's in the military defending this country and I won't allow it in my house for any reason, legal or illegal. I've seen too many sailor's destroy their lives due to drug use. By legalizing it, this just opens up to many law suits and countless more deaths. |

Deewa, I agree about intoxicated drivers but I also would suggest you read this book. It looks at both topics without bias. If you read it online it's free.

Ask your teenage boys which one is easier for them to get weed or alcohol. I know when I was kid I could find weed anywhere but had a hard time buying beer.

Careful what you ask for,for you may get it!!!!!
I am not a drug user of any kind, but I think they should legalize marijuana. Believe it or not.More people will be locked up,because they will think it's legal so I can grow it.That's a big fat wrong. They think they can buy it anywhere or from their friends as they always have.Wrong again. The reality is on government liscensed growers will be able to grow it,and government liscensed sellers will be able to sell it,and both will be taxed out the ying yang for this privilige. Have a true look at Oakland and you will see it is pretty much legal there, but yearly arrest have sky rocketed since making things legal and it will happen here also.Just imagine if you will(I have no idea what current cost are so just using a number) say 35 dollars a quarter now while it is illegal. Now compare that to at least 100 dollars with it being legal. Not to mention the jails will be full of people trying to grow it and sell it.Don't think for a millisecond if it is legalized that Uncle Sam won't crack down on growers and street dealers. So to answer your question.Yes I whole heartedly think it should be legalized the sooner the better.Oh and anyone can feel free to look up stats on marijuana related cases in Oakland Ca and you will find that what I am saying is true and it will happen here if it is legalized!!!!! |
