This country is the only one I know of that rewards people for breaking our laws. It has to stop and we need our elected officials to do their duty and protect our borders.

I support the law 100%. If If the I.A's are so unhappy with the laws of our nation then they shoud go to their home nation and hound their own gov. for change. I do support the LEGAL Immigrants. Who have jobs, and contribute to society. No Matter the country of origin.

Why have a law, if it carries no weight. Why inforce some laws and not others? I don't get it.

When my grandparents came here legally in 1907, they came to be American citizens and contribute to this new life, not take from it and send money back home. We need to pressure Mexico and others, to provide jobs for the populations so the grass on this side of the fence doesn't look so green. We need to cut the demand for drugs here which will take care of that probablem as well. The thing that made this country great ( E Pluribus Unum )is in the end what is destroying the America of our forefathers. Times have changed, America can never be the same, nothing ever stays the same, so make the most with what you've got. Once we were a model for the world to follow,in the end we will be an example of how affluence, greed, lack of single purpose and misdirection, can destroy.

yes there is an immigration issue, not just Arizona but thru all the U.S. but it does not justify recial profiling it is against the law, by federal law no one state can over rule the federal status law set by our for fathers in this country. it sounds more like vigilant justice it is not right. it is not civil or Appropriate. president obama needs to open up a form of amnesty with stipulation so they can track there addresses, if they break civil or federal laws or if they are wanted by law agency's, by applicants who file at they can be apprehended if they are wanted. I use to live in Bullhead City, Arizona and was proud to say that I lived there but now my thoughts are diffrent with this new law that just passed, ARIZONA has lost all respect for our federal laws. Now A proud resident of Tulsa OK.

READ THE BILL

There are at least 10 precedents, from the 8th, 9th,10th circuits, as well as the supreme court, with rulings in alignment with this law. It's more disciplined than the Federal immigration law, and it does not interfere with the regulation of immigration.

The AZ law mirrors the Federal law, that's why the government can't stop AZ. from doing what they are doing. They are doing what the federal government "SHOULD" be doing but won't.
God Bless AZ for having the "Kahuna's" to take things into their own hands and "try" and protect their State. I guess Sheriff "Joe" will be busy building some more tents.
Seems that about 16 other states are now going to pass the same laws. FINALLY the states are waking up and taking care of business.

Sorry, Walter, Arizona's SB1070 merely follows federal law: The Federal Alien Registration Act or Smith Act (18 U.S.C.§ 2385) enacted on June 29, 1940 is a United States Federal statute that requires aliens to register and carry identification at all times.

Now A proud resident of Tulsa OK. "by federal law no one state can over rule the federal status" States can add to federal law, but they can not take away from it. "The Constitution does not mention immigration. It does not specify rules for immigration. Article I, Section 8 says:“(Congress shall have the power) To establish a uniform Rule of Naturalization,” not regulate or enforce (or not enforce) immigration. Period. Beyond that the reader needs to drop down to the 10th Amendment. It reads:“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” In short, dealing with “illegal immigrants”(trespassers) is a duty reserved for the states, not the federal government. But if you follow the corporate media you wouldn’t know this. You’d think the Constitution protects illegal immigrants."
