For the record, Hemet supports Arizona's immigration law. This resolution was adopted by 4 elected city officials. Like it or not, they spoke for the entire community of 70,000+ residents. But, whether or not we agree with them or the Arizona law, is of little consequence.

Better, the question should be, WHY did Hemet support Arizona's law? The town has grown extremely "user friendly" for this very segment of undocumented immigrants that the city council ruled against. So, what's the point?

There is a growing number of Hispanic oriented businesses in Hemet. These ethnic markets, restaurants, retail, check cashing, legal and immigration services cater to Hispanics. Businesses every where are advertising in Spanish. This demonstrates the fact that growing numbers of Mexican residents have and are moving here.

The City of Hemet and it's planning department will approve and license these businesses. Even the old Albertson's Market is becoming an El Toro Market. Clearly, these trends will continue.

Why bother adopting a resolution in support of Arizona's immigration laws, when the culture and demographics have shifted? Why continue pimping and pandering to the undocumented and then give lip service to Arizona?

Hemet can't have it both ways.

My family immigrated from Austria and took classes to become natulized citizens why shouldn't everybody else? Because they don't care about the US & have no intention of staying here, they just want our jobs & money!
