It's the terrorists coming across the borders through Mexico that scare me to death. They learn to speak Spanish, blend into groups coming across the border and presto ... instant terrorist cell.

What part of "ILLEGAL" needs to be explained? And if someone is here legally whether they are Mexican, Canadian, Irish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Scottish, European, Iranian, or otherwise then showing an ID to prove such should not be a hardship. They ask for my passport every time I come into the country. I always have my drivers license with me.
We need stricter laws about giving jobs to, selling homes to or renting places to live to illegals. We wouldn't have the issues with the illegals that we do now if they were not able to come here and find employment, places to live and schools for their children. We need tougher penalties for those who hire and house illegals. And we need to stop giving them free health care, free education and other government tax funded benefits.
We have enough LEGAL citizens who need homes, health care, jobs and education. We can't support both. So we need to take care of our own before we continue to try to take care of the all the rest.

Everyone within our borders should be documented. Without documentation there is no way of knowing what criminals have passed our borders.

Arizona's elected officials observed, researched and came to a conclusion that something had to be done re. the immigration issues they face daily. That they did so with the overwhelming support of the majority of the electorate means they've made a responsible decision and are taking action. Who am I or for that matter you or anyone outside of Arizona to criticize them? Now, if this were Texas, and having recently moved to Arlington from the Brownsville/Harlingen area after 10 years and two noon-time home burglaries (WHILE my wife was in the home!!!), and personally seeing groups of illegals sneaking across International Boulevard through the U. Texas at Brownsville campus where I taught, tells me there is a definite need to tighter border security. Then, if that isn't enough, it is clear that the crime element in norther Mexico is blatantly running social, political and economic activities on BOTH sides of the border in Texas. If you are in denial of that fact you are a moron! Texas has its own very real and very active immigration issues. To slap what you and I think are enormous fines on corporations (Wal-Mart, Tyson Foods, etc.,) for knwingly and permittingly hire illegal people (it is federal law that every employee must complete an I-9 form and failure to do so with proven legitimate documentation is justification for an employer to deny hiring. Failure to NOT hire makes the employer guilty if federal law. BUT, so the feds slap a multi-million dollar fine on these large corporations. So what? As Peter Jennings said in one of his last appearances on TV News after Wal-Mart was fined some multi-million dollars for an employee issue, Jennings said, "By my calculations that fine took Wal-Mart just 29 minutes to make up in sales."
That's the point, the fines are NOT nearly stiff enough to get employer attention. If you want to get Tyson Foods or someone else to stop illegal hiring practices instead of giving them a monetary fine force them to shut down operations 50% every day for a period of time. Imagine a Wal-Mart only able to operate 12 hours a day, and maybe not the best 12 hours instead of 24, and suddenly their income drops like a rock...and share holders start getting angry....then there will be changes and compliance with applicable laws.

That's great, all those jobs must lead to money. Why the hell then can't they drag their butts down to the immigration office and become legal? You even said it in your post - "illegal" immigrants!!! What part of illegal do you not understand? Why have laws at all if you get to pick and choose the ones you follow? These thieves may pay taxes on their purchases but they damn sure don't pay for medical, dental, education, or any other services that I'm forced to pay FOR them and they certainly don't pay the IRS like therest of us do. You are blind or a fool, or both. If you're supporting them I say you get deported with them.

We should all be able to show proof of citizenship when asked by law enforcement - what difference does it make - ID, DL - you already have to show proof of who you are, what is the problem?????

Just wondering about when it was that our country started thinking that it's okay for illegals to invade the USA and feel entitled to do so.
There are some countries on this planet that still guard their borders with strict policies that require passports and personal answers to their multitudes of questions. Illegal entry is still prohibited and trespassers are either shot or in prison. It's appalling that the United State's govt. has become the willing pawn of foreign leadership(s). The gutless wonders in Washington are criminals, in my opinion, for allowing our country to fall into the control of illegals that demand "THEIR RIGHTS". Until our government is held accountable and is "controlled" by the American people, the weakening of our nation will continue. Our representatives need a good dose of reality!!
