Why should someone be given the right of citizenship just because they have been breaking the law for years? Don't know the content of his proposal, but unless there is a requirement they obtain citizenship within 18 months and if successful, then amnesty granted but if not, then deportation. There must be ramifications for those who have broken the laws if they do not want to truly be a part of our Country and society.

For some crimes there are, yes, but there is never a "limit" on being in a foreign country illegally, just as there is no "limit" on how long someone is a "citizen" of a nation.
