There has always been immigration to the USA and there always will be. Just except it.

Immigration yes, illegal aliens no. One is within the law, the other is outside of the law. |
Right, so I assume that all of your ancestors had papers. That when the settlers came they had permission from the local tribes. You should also not forget the fact that the government is constantly rising the bar for immigrants. When my grandfather came to this country he was able to work on a farm, now that isn't good enough. If it was all the illegal immigrants who are 'stealing' from the USA would be able to get a green card. Most people who are here illegally are migrant workers constantly living in fear. They want nothing more than the american dream. Who the hell are we to deny them! This country can not run without immigrants. The people you so strongly oppose keep our country running. Who do you think picks your food? I am originally from Ga, and they passed a harsh immigration law recently. I was reading the news within less than a month a single farmer lost $200000 in blueberry crops, JUST in blueberry crops. What is he going to do when cotton, grapes, corn, and peanuts come into season. The passing of this one law is going to increase food prices dramatically. |

What says should let anybody in? It's not the world's right to come here.
"the government is constantly rising the bar for immigrants." That's because they don't want criminals, illegal aliens and welfare cases showing up. "Who the hell are we to deny them!" No country wants illegal aliens, none. There are over 190 other countries they can go to. "I was reading the news within less than a month a single farmer lost $200000 in blueberry crops, JUST in blueberry crops. What is he going to do when cotton, grapes, corn, and peanuts come into season. The passing of this one law is going to increase food prices dramatically." "One of the big talking points that pro-immigration groups make is that our food prices would be much higher if the US did not tolerate the flow of illegal immigrants into the country to work in agriculture. They argue that no American would do the work the illegal immigrants do for the wages they make. It is a myth. First of all, agriculture is not a labor intensive business. The US supplies all the food it needs, plus exports billion of dollars to other countries, using very few people. In 1870, between 70% and 80% of the US population worked in agriculture. Today, less than 1% of the population works in agriculture. At last count there were only 821,000 people in the US employed in agriculture. This is out of a total civilian workforce of 153,904,000. There are 312,000,000 people in the US and these 821,000 workers produce enough to feed everybody, plus export food to the rest of the world. By 2018, agricultural employment in the US is expected to decrease to 804,400, even though the US population will be increasing." "An average household currently spends about $370 per year on fruits and vegetables. If curtailing illegal alien agricultural labor caused tighter labor conditions and a 40 percent increase in wages, the increased cost to the American family would be $9 a year, or about 2.5 cents per day. Yet for the farm laborer, the change would mean an increase in earnings from $17,600 to $24,640 per 2000-hour work year. That increase would move the worker from beneath the federal poverty line to above it. In fact, the salary would be higher than the median salary paid by Walmart. The cost of labor is a very small component of food. Consumers who pay $1 for a pound of apples, or $1 for a head of lettuce, are giving 16 to 19 cents to the farmer and 5 to 6 cents to the farm worker." http://www.sandiegoreader.com/weblogs/fulano_... |

Georgia Department of Agriculture Finds Big Ag Lobby Made False Claims about HB87. "On January 3 the Georgia Department of Agriculture (GADOA) released a report on the effect of HB87, Georgia’s immigration enforcement law, on farmers in the state. The report, required by HB87, deflates the apocalyptic claims by the agribusiness lobby that the law would cause “crops to rot in the fields” and food prices to skyrocket. FAIR’s analysis of the report shows the claims made by corporate farms are false, and that those who benefit from employing illegal workers can afford to pay wages up to 40 percent higher and still remain profitable. It is not surprising that the GADOA report would substantiate FAIR’s work, but what is surprising is that the passage of HB87 had virtually no impact on the profitability of even the largest growers in Georgia Entitled a “Report on Agriculture Labor,” the report is actually a 36-question survey, and a thoroughly unscientific survey at that, which was sent out to “over 4,000 agriculture producers, processors and other individuals in professions related to agriculture.” The GADOA received back 811 responses." http://immigrationreform.com/2012/01/17/georg... |
