I would support it only if those people had jobs, paid taxes --contribute to a community and not be on welfare.

Hose? I question the name, it sounds like someone trying to start something. If it had been Jose,! My first comment is that most of US are US citizens, not illegal! I don't have a problem with people who have came here legally. My second comment has to do with community involvement, I don't see hardly any involved with volunteering on Fire or Ambulance, actually I don't see any at all. Not meant to be derogitory in any way.

Bus all of them back to mexico and secure the border. As for the ones that have been here for a long time that only means they have broken the law the longest.

I had a few people who lacked proper documentation (illegals) seek to volunteer with the ambulance service between 2005 - 2010. The lack of Citizenship is a HUGE barrier in regards to licencing of EMTs and Ambulance Drivers. You also need a valid SSN to test on the fire department.
I wish the barriers were not so much of an issue as the EMS & Fire departments could use all of the help they can get.
Seems that there has been a number of people leaving the ambulance squad and a lot of ads in the local paper in the past few months.

As "Former EMS Director" pointed out, I don't think it is a lack on interest in supporting the community but rather the need to have a valid drivers license and SSN that prevent volunteering.
As far as the ambulance squad, it will never have enough members. I know Hawarden has struggled with this for many many years. The more members the better chance of providing a reliable, and safe ambulance service that meets the needs of it's community and doesn't over extend it's volunteers. Unfortunately, I think all rural services in the area deal with this same issue and are always looking for committed members.

It is very difficult to listen to any candidate talk about what they will or won't do when it comes to amnesty for illegals. They just don't seem to grasp the concept of legal and illegal. We seem to be voting but it doesn't seem to matter because everything gets bottled up in congress and nothing gets done. I don't care which party wins, it's still the same crap from Washington-Strictly party politics. Economics are a disaster and this is supposedly from the brightest minds in America, at least that's what we are told. Maybe we should just let anybody come and let them take over, probably have more common sense than what we have in office today. Close the borders--HOW??? If we let the politicians keep running the country we will lose. Most of them don't know reality anyway. Get out and vote for someone real!!

most crimes have a statute of limitations. If you c,ommit a crime and aren't prosecuted with in that time then you are home free. Many of our illegals commited the crime of illegal entry when they were children travelling with their parents. Others came when young adults and have been here for many years. They are in our schools and churches. They are good honest hard working and responsible people. There needs to be a way for them to stay as citizens. If new ones break the law by coming, then our efforts should be towards preventing their entry or catching them within a reasonable time.

You say "most Crimes", that in itself says that illegals are criminals, RIGHT? And we are supposed to let that slide so you can feel all fuzzy inside about being a good person?

Of course it is a crime. My point was that we have statutes of limitations so that people who commit a crime and make a mistake are protected from prosecution after a reasonable amount of time has passed. This is a good idea and an idea that makes sense when applied to persons who came here illegally.

I guess then if you commit a crime and don't get caught, that makes it ok to commit more, as long as you don't get caught. But you are still a criminal!!! You don't seem to grasp the concept of RIGHT and WRONG. Damn It must be nice to not have a conscience. If it makes you feel good just do it and hope you don't get caught. Legal or not!!!
