I support the idealogy of healthcare reform because I studied public health. Reform is needed for a variety of very complicated factors. The problem is that political resistance will get extreme. I hope Obama can survive it. All public health students had to introduce strategies for healthcare reform as part of our assignment for policy analysis on healthcare. I got an A+ based on my realism. Advanced public health students know why the Taft-Hartley Act impeded socialized healthcare. We also know that Obama's plan more closely matches France rather than the UK or Canada. Obama's plan is actually similar to Medicare.

The government should stay out of private industry. Period!

When I voted on this poll I had no idea that my comments would appear here. I thought it was anonymous just like my vote. But now I am getting feedback. First, I never read feedback. I learned the hard way that regardless of what I say or how neutral I try to be, there is always someone out there who disagrees. So I don't see any point in reading feedback. Second, I studied public health and based my feedback on intensive study of health economics, comparative health, foreign healthcare systems, Medicare, Medicaid, Congressional committee dynamics, political impediments, policy analysis, history of healthcare, laws and regulations, etc. I like Obama's healthcare plan but was hoping for a bipartisan resolution. I do wish the Republicans and Democrats could work together, but it seems hard right now. |

Cost too much

We need to offer everyone health. Even if it's basic healthcare,

I support the president's policy because I know personally many people who need help with health care because of job loss, income too low to pay for insurance but too high to qualify for Medicaid, high cost of visiting a doctor and having diagnostic tests, and the cost of medicine, not to mention hospital stays. I feel that many people who oppose any government-supported health care have their own job-related coverage.

Suppose that next week, you lose your job. It won't matter that you love you're company and don't want to lose it. Because the company that you love will ditch you so fast you're head will spin. If you can afford COBRA, that will tide you over until you can get another job. Until the next insurance company turns you down for the "preexisting condition" that your former company covered for you. But hey, maybe they'll let you shop around. For just another insurance company in another state where they'll give you crap insurance, but charge you an arm and a leg, because they're doing you a favor. These companies need regulation and competition. If a private business can't cut it with true competition, then they don't deserve to be in business.

$2 billion a month for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan....$9 billion over 10 years for real healthcare for all Americans....CLUELESSNESS REIGNS!!!!
|

Sorry, my mistake. $90 billion over ten years. Let's see, the war in Afghanistan begins it's 9th year tomorrow. Do the math.

The most amazing thing about the health care debacle is that these fools don't think they're paying now.
I have pretty good insurance. also had a heart attack a while ago. The cost? For four days in the hospital, a stent and a helicopter ride ..... $63,000. Now if I was some doper/dirtbag/gangbanger the taxpayer would have to eat that. so... point is it still cost us all. |

go have an affair with your f'd up governor. you people shouldn't even be allowed to speak... |

It's a good thing we don't get all the government we pay for.

The hospital is very inefficient. Time did a great article on it. Basically, the insurance system and payment system are a inundated with problems. Doctors tend to graduate with high debt, and the hospital is also a hypercompetitive academic environment. Those two factors push doctors into high paying specialties. The most efficient method of healthcare is with primary care physicians. But most medical students do not go into primary care, which has lower pay, longer hours, burnout, and extreme medical billing complications. Meanwhile, the specialists generally work less hours, make more money, and are less economically efficient. The hospital is a caste system. At the top are high-paid specialists from Ivy League schools with an MD/PhD. The MDs from state universities, especially primary care physicians, are usually "lower" in status. Below them are the PAs, nurses, and other allied health professionals ("the wannabes" according to some physicians), and the patient pays the price. Alec Baldwin characterized the role of a snobby Harvard MD perfectly in his movie "Malice." In real life, it can get like that. To be fair, such hypercompetitive occurs in other professions. But the healthcare system needs reform. Primary care providers are in extreme shortage. Hospitals need more primary care providers, which in addition to MDs also include physician assistants and nurse practitioners. http://www.youtube.com/watch... |

I support the Health Care Bill because, even though I like so many other seem to be fully covered until they have cancer, in need of a Transplate or some other Castrophy illiness, and denied medical treatment. The Bill will protect persons from being denied service. Under the Bill Health Provider want be able to use an existing health problem to denied coverage.
