We need big time health care reform now. The whole system is overpriced, and the insurance companies leave so much uncovered that the first time you go to the hospital, you can lose everything. The government gives $3,000 a year tax breaks for every employee insured already, and more and more companies are setting up sweetheart deals with insurance companies, or setting up their own, with huge deductables, caps, and so many disclaimers that they never pay much, and the money the government pays them for insuring employees, is just more profits. when i worked for hood packaging, between the government and my weekly payment, i paid $5,600 a year for health insurance. i had $4,500 in deductables, and when it did pay, it was not much. my bp meds cost $45, i paid $43, they paid %2. they paid so little on everything, that i was working to pay for the repairs to the injuries i received at work, so i could continue working. The human resource director told me that if i filed workers comp for the workplace injuries, i would be fired.
i am all for free enterprise, but the insurance companies have grown a form of monopoly, with many companies, all providing a service we need, while cheating us all the same way. It's time for someone to step in and stop us from being screwed. The republicans want us to continue letting the insurance companies govern themselves, and that has turned into very rich insurance companies, and bankrupt americans
