People won't be able to afford it. And with more and more doctors leaving the field, we'll be up the creek without a paddle.

Why wont people be able to afford it?

A lot of people cannot afford the cost of health care in the first place. Secondly, if you have high blood pressure, diabetis, depression, over weight, cholesterol problems, or any of the other common ailements you cannot get coverage at all unless you buy into one of those plans that cover about $25,000.00 a year MAX and that is if you
use EVERY SINGLE benefit it offers. So thats money down the tubes when you really do get ill.
We already have two major government run health plans. The first is the veterans administration and the second is medicare. The Medicare program is full of fraud and mismanagement, but can be saved. Medicaid is worse. Thats why its called a REFORM.

Fix the problems, cover the citizens.

Expand on that please. In my opinion Fox news the right wing. Far right. Do you think a lot of people are basing their thinking on only the right wing?

Considering there is already medicare and medicade youd think this would be a no-brainer as normal health insurance isnt covering as much as it used to, and is costing more. With proper control it could work, yet based on whats already been going on i have my concerns too.

How abot the veterans administration. they have been doing a fine job for thousands and thousands of people and its a government run health service.

The insurance companies, like all other big business got greedy and demanded more and more so they could pay their CEO's and other high ranking staff.

Doctors spent years in school to be doctors. They arent going to leave the field. What are they going to do? Become electricains and plumbers?

In the early 80's I paid $90 a month for coverage for 2 people. Dental, vision, hospitalization, prescriptions, everything. Yes, there were co-payments, small but they were there. What changed? Greed took over. Thats what changed.

I am very satisfied with my limited VA Hospital experiences. Chronic complainers are just whiners. They generally remark everything sucks because they don't recognize they are responsible for their own failures.

I guess the a-hole above has never been to a VA facility and seen the care these people get.
As usually, knows nothing for fact, just fantasy.

I've been to the VA Hosp. about 5 times. The staff are comprised of caring-medical professionals who are over-worked and unappreciated. They're doing their best.

They're also hammered with phony claims and from those seeking a free ride.

There's a program for students seeking to become doctors to get trained directly by the VA. Books and tuition are free. When they graduate they have to work minimum 8 years at a VA facility to pay off their indebtedness. The advantage is a high graduation rate compared to other medical schools. My girl is 18 now & mature enough to decide these opportunities on her own. The trade-off is that VA physicians aren't compensated as well as in similar institutions. After 8 yrs most docs stay to remain in the pension system.

Hi Denise. Welcome back or are you still on tour?

You cant tell people who havent experienced it anything. They go by what they read in the papers. If the reporter is out to get a certain slant, the only thing that reporter is going to add is the views of people who support his article. Newspapers never present both sides, only the side they want to push.

Not much he can do to actually change the economy, but he certainly can get health care to the millions of uninsured.

Hello ddw,
I had bad experiences myself at the VA hosp. numerous times. Waiting 3 months to see a specialist for constant kidney infections. The cure take an antibiotic for three months. Never ran blood tests etc. I think we all have different experiences and I agree with you. I think it depends maybe on what part of the country you receive care. I hear others have good experiences with the VA. Go figure

Daily Horoscope for November 26

Capricorn

The Moon enters your fourth house of home and family today, urging you to spend more time with your loved ones. There may be trouble brewing at home, so head it off at the pass before tomorrow, when conditions are right for a blowout. Take the time to really listen to what the people you live with are saying. If you live by yourself, you might want to water your plants and talk to them for a while; they miss you.
