This is not about medicine or health care, it is about control
No it is about lack of control for citizens who can't afford health care. With monthly premiums at $1000.00 to $1500.00 per month for a single self-employed person their only option is NOT to have it. Tell me why Jim people without health care are NOT worthy of this commodity. Why are people who die due to lack of care considered collateral damage. |

Here is a unique idea. Lets have tort reform and limit the penitive damanges to 2 million dollars. Then get government and companies out of paying insurance premiums for indivauls. Make everyone go out and buy the healh insurance that they need and can afford. Premiums would come down due to compation and people taking charge of their health care. If you let others pay for something then you give the power to tell what you can do. |

Anonymous - Even if you limit punative damages to 2 million, it still doesn't stop the insurance companies from charging people more. But I agree with limiting damages but the government still needs to step in to protect the people from being over charged. The insurance companies are like those that charge more for emergency items during an emergency. If everyone pays for their own insurance which I think is a good idea, it still doesn't stop the insurance companies from the pick and choose who they want to cover and who they don't. Example, someone with a preexisting illness can have every insurance company turn them down or if they are forced to insure them then they can charge them lots of money so they can't afford it which is what is exactly happening. Sometimes the government needs to step in and take control in order to do what is in the best interest of all it's citizens and not just a select few. Remember the government is we the people and many forget that we the citizens are the government and politicians are there to voice our opinions. Many who object to this health care plan are people who are employed and have employers pay half of their health care. What these people say is they don't want to pay higher taxes for someone else's health care. Now please keep in mind if any of these who object work for AIG or State Farm or for GE ( or any other company) and I do business with these companies, every time I make a transaction I am paying in part for their health insurance premiums. I don't think it is fair that I have to shell out money to pay for that companies employees health care. If I didn't the cost of doing business with them would be a lot less money. But you see these folks who have insurance via companies that can afford to assist with health care coverage don't want others to have the same benefits as they do. Think about this, a person works for GE and pays 75 every two weeks for insurance and GE pay the other 75 which comes to 300 per month, yet some self employed person must pay 1000.00 to 1500 for the same insurance. Something is wrong here with this picture. This is exactly why the government needs to step in and correct this problem. So many feel that health care is a choice, but others such as myself feel that good health care should be a right just like voting or free speech.

I will not pay for abortoins no gov't run options can work.

Who says this is going to pay for abortions????? You state no government health care won't work, so what will? Insurance companies are dictating who gets covered and what gets covered and that is why it's not working now. So come on back but with a plan that works. I wonder how many people who object have watched c-span where everything you want to know about the health care plan is aired everyday. |
