We have the highest healthcare cost in the developed world and the lowest standard of care. Go figure, Whatever it takes to turn this around. If it's socialized healthcare, so what, most of the world does it and they are better off than we are. Just because this is america doesn't mean we have to be different just for the sake of being different. It's about doing the right thing.

part of the problem is the worship of doctors as if they are god. they are overpaid. the American people have lost all their knowledge of common home remedies, healthy living, and natural medicine. It is so much more effective than all the drugs big pharma can charge you up the kazoo for. so now america is paying for this blind faith in poisons that kill tens of thousands every year, and practitioners who are no more than drug dealers for those big profiteering companies.
Oh well, the ones who believe in doctors and chemical poisons, are the ones who will die off, leaving the healthier ones to live. not that it's so nice, but probably true.

This post is a perfect example of how public schools have dumbed down America.

Here is a good example of one of capitalism's main problems. Once a monopoly becomes established, it is always left up to the people to stand up and create the remedy. People are dying because of our health care system. (my cousin Judy last year died at the young age of 36 after a prolonged battle with her stupid health insurance, they eventually got her into the operation room for her surgery, but she died the next day due to the high toxicity in her blood of course from waiting too long for the surgery). We are all losing money that was spent educating these children (like me) who grew up and for whatever reason (skyrocketing health care costs) the jobs we took do not provide us with any coverage at all. Healthcare-for-profit has taken our Hippocratic partners and turned them into dark angels of greed.

EXACTLY.

America does things different because we are the land of the FREE.

85 % of the Americans are happy with their insurance. Get a clue before you spout off with your socialized blabber. If this plan passes it will bankrupt the state like it did in California. Insurance companies will pass all fee's on to the individual which will make it twice as expensive it is now.
Did you know this new health care bill they are trying to ram down our throats INCLUDES JAIL TIME for anyone who cannot afford it. Yes, Jail time for the people they say it will help. That's not American.

Typical bureaucratic gridlock. One side (pick either Deathocrat or Republicant) stands up in Congress and says, "I have an idea!" then a congressman stands up from the opposite side and says "and I can make it worse!" (thank you Lewis Black) We all have become so polarized by our 2 party government, we are blinded as to what the RIGHT thing to do is. It is absolutely pathetic that we think that each of our individuals healthcare should be based or decided upon by our financial status. Get a child out every time we want to say, "Oh that poor child, we should heal it because it doesn't have the capability of providing for itself" But a grown man or woman of poor status, who has to fight tooth and nail for any kind of a resemblance of healthcare, we say to them "Sorry charlie, you made bad choices in your life, you just didn't work hard enough."

The last time this nation of free peoples made serious progress was when we had a DIFFERENT (Progressive) party that stood up to corporate criminals like Rockefeller when Theodore Roosevelt stood up to him and said "Rockefeller, you do not run this country, I do."

Seriously folks, greed has enveloped us all and blinded us to the humanitarian thing we should be doing. Call it Communism or Socialism, while you verbally protect federal taxation, which to me is Communism in its purist form. You all would rather fund wars with that revenue than take care of our poorest peoples here?

Bill Clinton said on September 17th on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart "We are the ONLY wealthy country in the entire world that does not provide basic healthcare to all of our citizens." This gridlock is bankrupting the health of this nation, and the costs are astronomical. What if my own father had survived his first heart attack at the age of 48 because he had adequate (preventative) healthcare, and had paid 20 more years into the current system? How many have died needlessly due to lack of preventative healthcare? The cost not only in dollars, but of family pain and suffering is IMMEASURABLE.

I support nationalizing healthcare IF all it does is provide universal healthcare to legalized citizens of these United States of America. Take a tried and working model from any wealthy country's healthcare and put a very unmodified version in place here. No addendum's or pork please.

At times you lot (americans) make me scream. Stop listening to the pork barrel of the drugs companies and start thinking of the 40% in your so called amazing country (and I'm not being sarcastic there - I believe it) who don't have access to real healthcare, who are left to flounder. Are you saying that the UK, France, Germany and Spain are all a commie threat? learn some political philosophy before coming up with that crap. We all backed your (OK Wubbys) little scam. Get a life and get a passport, there mis more to the world than just trying to bomb it when you don't get your way

Anonymous from the UK, thank god someone is sounding off from outside this gridlocked piece of garbage that used to be a great state, which I still love and call my country. First thing debaters have to agree on are statistics. This is the problem with 30,000+ lobbyists hanging around your country's capital. Everyone has their own statistics. >.<

Bill Clinton also said in my aforementioned interview sept. 17th to Jon Stewart, "When the cameras are on, I don't hear many horror stories at all. But when the cameras are off, everywhere I go families come to me and tell me a story about a death that could have been EASILY prevented if they had had access to a healthcare system in place like any other wealthy country in the world. It's been 15 years since Hillary introduced her version of a healthcare solution, the time is now." You see, Americans are also proud, most of us don't like the idea of a handout. These "Companies" know this. They also are playing off of that.

Anonymous from San Diego, do you watch Jay Leno? Ever hear the story he told about taking his mother to the UK to have an operation? She had the operation which was a success, and it cost about ONE-TENTH of what it would have cost here. Americans have been corralled/hoodwinked/lied to (just ask our healthcare system to come up with a cure instead of a treatment) by our "dark angel" healthcare system, follow the money trail. There is some old wisdom in that statement. Follow the money trail. And BTW, 40% seems pretty accurate to me, doesn't sound like a statistic from Washington D.C.

I for one, would like to apologize to all the peoples from outside the US that felt they were scammed. I believe you were. I'm sorry I live in a rogue state now with no parental controls. We are overrun with greed you see. I hate to say it, but if I were given a choice to invest somewhere, it wouldn't be the US. At least not until the government stood up to the corporate BS and demanded equality and fairness. Look at how many Americans have lost their pensions and healthcare options because the company weaseled out of those obligations. If Teddy was here, HEADS WOULD ROLL.(Theodore Roosevelt)

Ta Mighty, I really do think at times is an amazing place but having studied your political system and seen the way the pork barrel (sorry to us that cliche again) works. One of the problems we have had with the nhs is Big Pharma trying it on with the drugs prices. However the buying power of the biggest of any organisation in Europe (public or private) soon sorted that out
