People need to stop letting themselves be manipulated by the big drug and insurance companies. We're the only western democracy without universal healthcare. There is a death in this country every 12 minutes due to lack of health insurance. The Republicans try to tell you that social medicine in Canada is horrible, yet Canada's health care system ranks 30th in the world over our 37th. Wake up people! It's about greed, plain and simple. Do your own research instead of listening to the biased media like Fox News and idiots like Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly (they're both filthy rich, have the best health care available, and don't care about regular people). Think about it!

I think it will end up costing more and we will receive less service.

I have lives in Englamd and saw first hand how long it takes for prrocedures to be scheduled.

I truly believe going to universal healthcare will create a wait for surgeries, appts, etc. I prefer what we have now.

it's too expensive and too intrusive into our lives. Want to lower costs? Allow individuals to buy insurance across state lines. Another way to lower cost is tort reform. These two ideas alone would considerably lower costs and there are even more things that can be done without a total government take over of healthcare.

Meg, you are so correct.
Never realized how much we all need health insurance. There should not even be a question as to 1. Can I afford health insurance on my own? 2. Can I afford health insurance if I am a business? 3. What job shall I get that offers health insurance? 4. That job just shut the doors and I can't afford Cobra insurance as I do not have a job? 5. I maybe able to get Medicaid for health insurance? I now qualify for Medicaid or Child Health Plus but wait. I have to go to a Medicaid clinic and not to the regular doctor's office as they pay more in a clinic then at their own practice. Wake up. Same doctor!!! A new doctor of course because I can no longer see my regular doctor as he/she doesn't take this insurance. 6. But I make too much because you count my spouse's income. 7. I am with or without health insurance. 8. Children going off to college and without health insurance because they turn 19 or 21 or 23. Now what do they do? Shall they finish college or get a job with health insurance?
These are just some of the concerns many people have.
Take it from me. I have been through it all and still dealing with health insurance issues.
There should be insurance offered for everyone. From $0 - will say $25,000 as a certain tax and then from will say $25,000 -$50,000 at another bracket for so much money etc ...
I would not mind paying f I had adequate health care and can see the doctor I choose.
Why should people on Medicare have to pay for a secondary insurance. Socialized medicine should cover that.
I don't have the specific answers but know one thing health care needs to be fixed so everyone is offered health insurance. The same. Doctor's should be charging the same.
After all isn't it price gouging when gas stations charge more than they are told to? Or if in a State of Emergency and generators were price gouged?
Have you ever saw a poor doctor?
$90 and hour for 1 hour? And another doctor $39 reimbursement because that is all Medicaid paid?
I am not saying everyone should run out and get Medicaid. All I am saying is if that is a form of health care and it is needed then I am all for it. It is not a persons fault Medicaid is offered.
There are many families with health care needs that are great. Would you rather go without or have Medicaid? Or better yet, have an insurance that would take care of everyone's needs when they do get sick and fix that sickness.
How many people have high co-pays and stay home because they can't afford it?
Preventative medicine. Healthy eating classes. Heart smart training.
There is so much that can be done.
What is wrong with this picture?
All I know right now is part of my family is without health insurance because it is not offered at the current job until several months.
A child in college loses health insurance in several months because will turn 19 and job of family member will not cover child. So child is in need of health insurance and not pursuing college further as child needs health insurance and finding a job right now to offer that. True story!!
