any health care reform is better than the current system. Everyone knows that the basic operation of insurance is to provide as little relief as possible while retaining the most profit. Health insurance is no different. The plan being formulated is far from perfect, but its a start.

Yeah cause the coal industry is about to go here and if it does alot of people will be out of work and wont be able to support their families. How can you survive if you go from making 20-30 dollars per hour to min wage. Our lives will never be the same and we will loose everything we have

If these people weren't making 20-30 dollars per hour and the coal company bosses weren't making 100's of millions of dollars off a job then file bankrupt then coal wouldn't be so high, then electric prices go down. You people all have your head up your asses. Coal is dying, get over it. All I hear about is how the reclaimed mines look so good, only one i've ever seen that is used is were the prison and cloud 9 is. So don't say were making more places because truth is your not. Here's a clue Start a new business that doesn't rely on COAL Because you will get F*cked in the end by the coal companies. So go government run health care because just like your precious coal mine owners hospitals are the same way 10,000.00 for a ER Visit. 5,000 for a cat scan thats f()ed up so i'm all for it

Why is coal the only thing keeping this place going, because you dumbass people keep depending on coal as your only income and don't think about the future. I'm not against coal as I have family and friends in the coal business all I'm saying is we need some other types of business in this area as the coal will run out one day and then where does that leave us??? See my point .

No dumbass I don't draw a check I don't live in public housing hud doesn't pay my house payment i own this motherfu#ker. I work my ass off but have no medical insurance. My bills are paid by my hard work every month. Here's something build factories that produces american made parts. See there lies the problem everyone wants to make 20-30 dollars a hour I make 10 i'm not rich but i get shit done. See thats the reason all the businesses go to mexico or china so they pay 100 workers for a month what it cost for one day here. But the american people want cheap s@it so they get it from china. And china is buying most of the coal right?? IF we had 10-15 solid factories in the region that employed 500 or so people I think everyone would be better off, but all that is one peoples minds here is blow that mountain top off and get that coal, yet you forget when thats all gone there will be nothing left here. So if we don't start soon you may as well pack your shit you said it yourself there is nothing but coal. At leasst homer short built businesses other than coal, but theres only so much you can do in a hell hole huh!!!

Well, considering the fact that no one will build a factory (which will run tens of millions of dollars at a minimum) in a flood plain, this area's kind've screwed without coal. The only chance we had for bringing in new manufacturing to this area was to use land left after mountaintop removal or mining. Since our current federal administration has felt the need to cut off all approval for new coal projects, and won't allow current mines to forego reclaimation, that's out too.
So, exactly what kind of industry is supposed to replace coal? And that's not even mentioning the increases in electric and utility costs to this area as coal production drops. Between the two, it is going to destroy this area economically.

The docs aren't the problem, it's the system. Of course they want your co-pay. How else are they supposed to pay their office expenses, rent, and malpractice insurance? Do you work for free? Probably not because you don't work at all, now do you? That's right, you want everything for free, even your food stamps and your cell phone you worthless piece of shit.

What should replace coal is an industry involved with developing alternate energy sources, be it solar, wind, nuclear, burning garbage or whatever else. We should stop lamenting the loss of the coal industry and instead look for what we can do to replace it. The manpower is there, all we need is retraining

If you ever looked at a map you will see that there is plenty of land and plenty of coal in this state alone. We also have a large reserve of oil and natural gas which is largely untapped. The perception that we are running out is nothing more than a fabricated lie in order to drive prices up. If you don't believe me, do some research.

My point is, the problem is not a lack of manpower, it's not a lack of training. It's a lack of usable land. There is no where to put new industry, because there's not enough large, flat, stable ground that's above the flood plain. Until and unless the government allows us to make some flat land, then we're SOL; the most efficient way to do this is to allow certain areas to be mined out and left unreclaimed, then allow the coal company to donate the land to the local gov't.
