It's no perfect, of course. But we have to start somewhere. There's a lot of people with no insurance who can't afford it & are driving up healthcare costs with the delay of preventative care & being treated in the ER or even refused by the ER until they are critical. My 36 yo co-worker just died recently. She was told, more than once, by ER doctors, "you need a Dr". No private Dr would see her because she was a cash paying patient & they don't want to be obligated once they establish the patient-doctor relationship. Also, we need to stop the duplication of services & tests being done, many times on purpose unnecisarily, which is a major waste of funds.
