Health Care Debate - New York, NY

It provides close to 50 million of our fellow citizens with health insurance.

Our N.Y. state workers comp system is a gov;t run health care scam were judges,lawyers and physicians act in collusion to deny,limit and prolong proper health care to victims.I worked 25 years for the state of ny as a Registered Nurse at a lower payscale so as i would have the benefits of health care upon retirement.I worked for what you recieve politicians are giving my benefits to those who chose not to work.

Because someone can not afford health care doesn't mean they don't work. Ever heard of medicare and ERs must treat everyone? You're already paying for people's health care. we are going to change the system that the majority is okay with just because 17+% has no insurance,most of them receive treatment anyway.

The government can not run the business it's already in charge of, what makes anyone think they can manage our health care?

The health care scam is the same sort of fear mongering the government has always traded in, it's just a different boogyman.

Current system is too old.

Allow consumers/businesses to buy insurance from any state, not just the state of residence, and you will see true competition and cost reduction instead of this 1100 page monstrosity.

How good is my health insurance if my un-insured neighbor has TB?
A universal health care reform that emphasis Preventive care, that is inclusive and that reduce monopoly of health insurance company is necessary. Every American deserve a good health care as well as good education as a right not as a previledge

Anyone with a diagnosis of TB receives automatic healthcare whether they have insurance or not. Don't believe me call the your local department of health and they'll tell you the same. Stop with the lies and misinformation.

I would support fixing what is broke...

1) Insurers cannot drop those insured unless they don't pay their premiums
2) Insurers cannot drop you or deny you because of a pre-existing condition and it should be mandated that anyone that has been dropped be taken back
3) Reform tort laws that allow endless litigation

Let's start with that

Why is it the 47 million of uninsured that Obama speaks of day in and day out is not broken down into true numbers? It DOES include illegal aliens 10-20 million...not only should they not get health insurance they should all be deported. While any current bill may state illegals will not receieve benefits..THERE IS NO WAY TO ENFORCE that from happening.

Anyone under the age of 25 should then be mandated by law to still be allowed under their parents insurance. So if that is another 10 million and I have no idea the number but again, how many people here LEGALLY and over the age of 25 do not have insurance? Let us discuss the reasons why they don't and then we can address THEM.

Often it is not so much one wants to shut people out of health insurance so much as throwing a number of 47 million w/out breaking that number down and analzying the WHY for each group and addressing the LEGAL citizens then we can make headway. But simply throwing the number around as a talking point and then showing one person who has lost insurance is not exactly winning me over.

If you are in college, you should still be under your parents plan...what plan were you under prior to college?

Also, once one is out of college, there are plans that are reasonable being that at that age statistically one is healthy. Now the fact that those just out of college typically have no sense of reality and think life is free...suddenly have to realize that they need to pay for health insurance or their iPod/cell phone/imported car is another story.

If they cut back on their luxuries they can get a reasonable health plan that covers a catastrophic event...if you are looking for a plan that pays for elective surgery and everything under the sun...get a job.

Liberty and justice are rights.

Health care is not.

Knock off about 20 million illegals, another couple of million who are between jobs, and the young and healthy and the # is about 10-12 million... now that's really woth close to a trillion dollars isn't it?
