A reform of this size cannot be rolled out in 6 months. Instead incremental changes through trial and error would be better. The bill lacks transparency, lacks tort reform and has been seriously deficient in intelligent discussion. Return to the drawing board boys and girls, act responsibly, refuse 'your privileged health care plan' and join the one proposed for the working class! Show some intestinal fortitude you Democrats. Protecting ones turf and posturing for the press is not the answer...communicate with us...and be truthful!

It is going to cost at least twice as much, and we don't have the money. Our country is broke.

There are a lot of holes in the healthcare system. The working class will never get a break. I pay close to $600.00 a month to carry healthcare for a family of 3 and we each have a $700.00 deductible.
After that we pay 20% of approved costs. Some medications have a $25.00 co-pay.
I can't get appointments with doctors because those w/o jobs get the appointments. I do get an appointment, I am usually the youngest in the waiting room and the only one w/o blue hair, a "girl" to drive me around and a walking device.I will be 60 next month.
We are living longer and using up the money that we thought would be there for "necessary healthcare". Some want to sue for malpractice for malpractice when the complications that they were warned about occur.
Some have bodies that look like a car that could have been eligible for "junk for cash" and expect that the heart surgery they just had will turn them into a 2010 Lexus.
When I worked in the ER, there were so many uninsured and others using the ER as a revolving door, it would make your head spin. Being a nurse for 38 years, I have seen many changes and there is definitely greed in healthcare, on both sides of the pill.
Years ago, when I worked at Lenox Hill, people would check in like the hospital was a hotel. Now everything is done as outpatient. I could fill a book with my thoughts and experiences. If the politicians and CEO's would take their hands out of the pot of cash, then maybe we could solve the problems. I am now doing Work Comp case management and you would not believe how the claims could be milked.
I can feel my BP rising as I write, so since I will start my new deductible with 1-1-2010, I shall stop. By the way, we all have some type of pre-existing condition.

I am not going to even mention what I pay a month for myself, my wife and two children.....but to all of you..and you may already know this regarding prescription items.....I now live in Orange Cty, NY and Walmart...(yes..some hate it, but it really has its good points)have a great program for prescription items at terrific prices and I am pretty sure large retail chains like CVS, Walgreens etc etc have one as well where you can get items for around $4.00 or so depending on the medication.

Socialized medicine in the USA?.....hah.....little too late and too many people...that is a whole other never ending forum.
