The plan is what this country needs because it makes sure that the needs of ALL Americans, ill or not, are met.

Show me that the government can FIX Social Security, Disability and Medicare/Medicaid FIRST! While there at it, fix the Postal Service and any other government run programs that either don't work, are plagued with problems, or costing more than they bring in. A complete overhaul of healthcare is just a way to turn large problems into enormous ones! Can anyone produce a list of government run/backed programs that would survive in the private sector?

Need to show me that the government can "FIX" Social Security, Disability and Medicare FIRST!

While at it, they can fix the Postal Service and any other government run/backed programs that either don't work, are plagued with problems and abuse or cost more than they bring in. In the end, a complete overhaul of healthcare is just trading large problems for enormous ones with more room to grow!

Can anyone produce a list of government run programs that actually work as intended or would be able to survive in the private sector?

It's too expensive, too many covert things in this. This is NOT a good plan. But we all know they'll do what they want, we Truely do not have a say in this. The government just gave AIG another stimulus payment even thought they say AIG doesn't need it. It was either 9 or 90 billion. Sounds like a premium payment to me..... what do you think. If you think the government cares about you or what you think your'e a fooooool!!! This government has become "for the government, on the backs and out of the pockets of the people", not 'for the people, by the people'. That is the biggest illusion the government has sold to the American public yet.

Change - Yes. Overhaul - No.
Tort reform, eliminate pre-existing, force insurance companies to compete across state lines. FIX Medicare/Medicaid!

Medicare/Medicaid lose close to 500 billion in fraud each year. So in typical government wisdom, they want to expand with the government option and open the doors for more fraud.

Its vital to have teh Public becaue that will force the Large Ins Corps to lower their Prems so that small companies like I have can continue to offer health ins to our employee's ,secondly its a moral to make sure that All Americans have health care ,we need to also put all ins corp under the nti Trust Laws only two corps aren't under the anti trust laws and that's Health ins Corps and baseball. The Republican party and the Blue dogs of my party are using Human Beings as a commodity to insure the profits of their PAC's and Big Corps and that is horrible . Michelle Backman today is working over time to help kill more Americans by refusing to help them obtain the care they need. I heard for 8 yrs about God/Jesus First , well Republicans put God/Jesus where they really belong by supporting Pres. obama's health Ins Reform and the Public Option and if you Repoublicans can't the Sunday morning stay away from the Church's.

This will only result in a huge and wasteful gov't disaster. Healthcare will become worse.

Do a "Dave Ramsey" type approach which means "You can't spend more than you make".

1. Fix the Medicare fraud problems first!
2. Fix the frivolous lawsuits (Tort Reform).
3. Allow private insurance to compete across state lines.

THEN (after it's proven that reform can be paid partially by Medicare fraud savings and private insurance cost have lowered)...

START crunching the numbers and see where we stand and what improvements and/or changes are still needed and affordable!

We don't need to do everything at once and right now! Take a logical stepped approach (I know that's hard for government) and not change the whole system at once while paying for and balancing the books on nothing but hope, wishful thinking and creative accounting to make promises they either know they can't keep or at best clueless if they can.

Thought I'd take a break to do something different and make a post in Topix...

Currently I'm working on year end tax scenario's I may need to consider, listening to the latest healthcare info/status on Fox while wearing a t-shirt which made me think of this "Healthcare Reform Thread" as it appropriately states:

I agree. And a tax cut is really one of the anecdotes to coming out of an economic illness. Reform yes ... replace no!

I do not support the idea of being forced to have my tax dollars pay for something that I have no use for; abortions. This violates not my right of choice but it also violates every other man's right of choice.
