There is too much wrong with the current system to oppose reform.

We don't have a true national system. It would be great if every hospital and doctor's office could share medical records. It would be great if the government bust the monopolies in health care and get rid of the out of network thing. Those reforms alone will cut the price of health insurance. We do need reform, people are dying because they cannot afford to pay 7,000-11,000 per year on health insurance just to be dropped if something major happens. Our current health insurance system is great, it provides you with the best coverage you can afford (if you can afford a 25% increase per year while your income goes up only 3%) as long as you don't need it or don't get sick.

There will be a time when everyone will have access to your medical records. Just wait and see.

This whole thing is being oushed too fast! WWithin the 43 mio "uninsured" how many are uninsured by choice? They in essence have chosen to be self insured. How amny illegals?

The bill needs to be written out, published so all can read it, and then voted on. The so called stimulus bill was rushed through without eing read, even by thise vting for it. Look at the mess we have there. If this is truly worthwhile, slow down, let everybody read it and if they feel a need, contact their elected representatives and submit it to an up or down volte, under the established rules of the congress, without any shenanigans!

Ok, VA and Medicare is government operated healthcare, so are we a socialist government because of those? Yea, socialism is bad until you get it

Without some sort of "public option" the insurance companies have no real competition. A "one payer" system, which I favor, will be required to have somebody with enough clout to force the providers (doctors and hospitals) to charge reasonable amounts for the care they provide. If costs can't be brought under control, we will all go broke trying to pay for healthcare.

So to does the CEO and other major execs of the health insurance companies. They'd rather spend 2 million dollars per politician to pass laws favorable to them, then to spend $25,000 to save your life.

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Libra

Don't hold anything in, especially an emotional burden. The only way to drown the past is to open the floodgates. If you've got something to say, come right out and say it. The only people who might be offended by your honesty don't really matter in the grand scheme of things anyway, Libra. Great changes flow smoothly through your day. When you take charge, everyone feels at home.
