My son has had 3 open heart surgeries. He has Medicaid but he also has private insurance that covers 80% of his medical bills and 100% on home health care and equiptment. I turely believe that if we had to rely on Medicaid alone he would not be alive today. The billing process is too slow to keep doctors in a job. Additionally the contractional adjustments by Medicaid are extreem compared to our private insurance. Doctors simply cannot provide a high level of care when regulated so striclty. They spend more money on insurance to protect themselves and the result is that they charge more to compensate. (if the Presidents over all goal is to help AIG rebound quickly, then this is a good strategy) My wife works for a hospital so I hear real concerns from the doctors. The government should play very little role in health care. There are companies and individual's who contribute generously to those in need but when the government sticks their hand in the pie all the time, it reduces the resources that these companines and individual's have. There are people who need assistance but I feel like if the government wants to help they need to step back and let private sectors manage these needs. Put tax incentives in place to help those who are willing to assist and let people work on a local level to decided the needs of their community. It is not the Presidents plan that I disagree with, it is that the President feels like he has a place in making these kinds of decissions at all. He has so many balls in the air right now that it is imposible for him to be good at managing everything. He is only one man and with so much going on he can't keep tabs on it all and the health care plan weighs heavely on tax payers.
