Whether your opinion is positive or negative, I think most would agree that the changes we're seeing in America these days are nothing short of amazing. A national health care plan, funded by the government, could provide the money to fuel one last investment bubble before the final crash of the US dollar. One more gasp of greed before either depression or hyperinflation. Either way, I think America will be a better place after the "baptism of fire" that awaits us. We need to embrace our destiny with fervor. If my family and I survive, I hope to tell stories of these times to my grandchildren while sitting in my rocker. Maybe I'll change my name to "Tom Joad" and take some black and white photos through a yellow lens to show the grandkids.

Its easy to sit back and say we dont need this and that if your covered. I have a pre-existing condition and cant get health care. I still work..dont want it for free but I do want to be able to buy the same policy as joe blow does for the same price. At least Obama is putting it to the forefront. Something the other preidents did not do.

Little Crab Bound wrote: Socialism never works It probably doesn't work for long. Many of the socialistic programs in this country date back to Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR). Social Security and Medicare are socialistic programs that were never prescribed by our Constitution. The modern bailouts of banks and other companies are socialistic interventions by the US government. Government healthcare will be yet another socialist program. But, Americans want these changes and have themselves changed from the hard-scrabble, survivalists that built America into a fearful people who desire the government to care for their every need. When our esteemed government can no longer meet those needs, I fear that there will be "weeping and gnashing of teeth."

If or politicians had honesty, character, and integrity it would work, are or highways a product of socialism, are the radio, TV airways and the internet products of socialism. Virtually every technological, medical, drug or even the industrial revolution itself was either financed wholly are a very large part by the tax payers of the U.S. No one has accumulated the wealth that some have today through capitalism. They have had to have help monetarily or government favoritism through tax laws or other laws, that has allowed them to prosper without any short falls. Are all these examples of socialism. The government must control the brand of capitalism we practice today. When a company will make or import a product that they know will kill, but do it anyway because they know the profits will over come the cost of the law suites. This is not good. When private industry can put us in a position to go to war to enhance there bottom line, and get americans, brave americans killed daily so pipe lines can be built and oil can be pumped out of the ground. We have issues socialism would be a welcome relief on some fronts in this great nation. We can be great again with some honest people who have character. People who are not all about money and power

The health care industry has gotten to be big business with the HMO's. Let the doctors charge a reasonable rate for a visit and let the hospital do the same. Everyone would benefit. We do not need the government running healthcare. Just look at what they do run to see how well that is going.

http://republicans.waysandmeans.house.gov/New... The above link describes the new health care bill's policy of fining citizens 2.5% of their income if they do not maintain health care insurance. Failure to pay the fine could result in jail time as well as further fines. The government health policy is estimated to cost $15,000 per year. I'm not sure if this law will become part of the final health care bill or not, but if it does, the working class will again be punished with more taxation. Those who do not work will maintain their free health insurance as they do now. Those who own a small business will either pay for the policy or give another 2.5% of their income to our esteemed federal government.

LITTLE CRAB BOUND wrote: UNCONSTITUTIONAL It probably matters very little if this law is unconstitutional. Many Americans will still cry out in support of it and demand its passage. Our country is split into two camps; one wants to remain free and independent while the other will sell its soul for a false guarantee of security by our government. The latter group is consumed by fear with no pride or self-sufficiency left in its being. However, those Americans who still harbor the pride of independence will have the strength to survive when our government fails us.

Health care is a moral right not a luxury. Every industrialized country in the world is able to provide better care (statistically) for less money. We need to support the people not the monpolies in the insurance business.

We need health care reform and President Obama and the Democrats are going to deliver it. If we do nothing, people will be denied coverage for existing conditions and die. If we do nothing, insuance companies will continue to denie 1 out of every 6 procedures, and people die. If we do nothing, 1-million people each year will declare bankruptcy due to medical bills. If we do nothing, insurance rates will continue to increase. I am amazed that republicans are against spending 100 billion dollars a year to improve our health care system, but are for spending 100 billion dollars a year for tax cuts for millionaires. Republicans need to realize that having social programs such as social security, medicare, public schools, public roads, etc. are all good things not bad. There is no such thing as a pure capitolist society. Never has been never will be because all societies, except for 3rd world countries, have social programs. Besides, having a healthier society will save our nation money not cost us money. We pay for the uninsured now because they are forced to use the emergeny room when they are sick. It is immoral to demonize the poor and sick!

I am so concerned for the poor people in eastern TN who rail against a program that could literally save their lives. I am so sick of hearing that "the Lord will provide" and then watching folks lose everything when they get sick.
