I worked at Saint Vincent Health Center for approximately 16 years, most of this in patient care. The number one issue that always stuck in my craw was the fact that those people in charge at the higher and highest levels have absolutely no idea what goes on with the patients and their care just a couple of floors away from their own office and meeting room spaces.
For years I would bring this issue to their attention, through verbal and written word yet never was this suggestion considered or responded back. While it is impracticle to expect higher management to roll up their sleeves and get right into something they are ill qualified to do, you would never see them, not even once, on a patient unit to observe, talk with, or encourage the very people they expect to carry out the services that keep the hospital running.
Surely a good and effective leader would be aware of the value of supporting the "troops" once in awhile by showing up and creating a feeling that those making the big decisions have their hand on the pulse themselves now and then. But no, their only appearences are random sightings, maybe in an elevator, the cafeteria, or a hallway on their way to yet another important meeting.
Perhaps if more courage were present then hospital leaders would spend more time actually understanding a little better the workings of what they are supposed to be leaders of. I bet this would lead to better healthcare. Don't hold your breathe however.

If the government gets involved with Healthcare, you can bet it will be screwed up in a big hurry. Medicare was solvent and in good shape until, the government, in their infinite wisdom, stole from it to give to illegals, and those who were never entitled to it in the first place. Look how screwed up the IRS is now that they are in bed with ACORN and God knows what other shady organizations. Guess who pays for all this mismanagement? We the taxpayers, of course!

From now on when I want to drive somewhere I'm cutting through farms and across people lawns and through creeks and stuff. Screw those government maintained roads. And I'm drinking my water straight from the bay. The government can leave its hands off my drinking water. And I'm going shit in my yard. Why should the government treat my waste? And I want all the troops brought home. I'll fight my own fights...thank you.

I drink water from my own well and my waste water is taken care of by my septic system. I came home after fighting my own wars (and yours) but some of my brothers in arms did not. As far as roads go, why don't you take the closest one out of the country.

All I know is I think our system is broken, it needs fixed. Watched the movie sicko last night, by Michael Moore and was shocked. I am not trying to change this topic to the movie. Rather, instead of bashing Obama, lets try and get a system in here to help ALL people, regardless of color, income level or if they work. It is a sad day in America that we have become so intrested in me me me. Also, remember......you really are not that far away from being unemployed or dropped from your health carrier. As much as you want to believe it could not happen, it could, then what?

well, say in many other countries......Canada, France and others it is paid by taxes. I know I know, not what we want to hear, but it is a right to be cared for not a priviledge.
