When has the government ever ran anything better than a private company? I have great insurance at an affordable price. Under Obama care I would pay more and get less. Why should I have to subsidize everyone's healthcare?

The government has never run anything better than a private company can. Why would I trust them for my health care? I would pay more and get far less. Why should I have to subsidize everyone else? Why should I get punished for working hard?

If I choose to give money that is one thing, but to forced to give is totally another. I already pay 30% of what I make to the government I should not have to give more.

I think IAD on if you have Good Health Care that is being paid by your Employer or You Don't..

The Old Haves and have nots..

in the 90's, I was self employed and paid for my own HC for 4 yrs prior and when I got a Chronic condition? They kicked me out and I was Uninsureable..
There was no other Plans, State or otherwise..I was screwed for the next 10 yrs having to pay the ave of over $7,000 yr for my own care..( Diabetes ) until I got accepted into the VA system..

Another Self Employed person I knew, didn't have HC and Got Sick and had to file bankruptcy as a result of Hosp. Bills.

So a Gov't Plan , that would take caer of say 80% of the Bills would have been a life saver.. Better than Nothing as it were...

And maybe a Froced to participate Plan like they do in Mass. and Cal is another option we should Have here in Wi. Since we have an awfull Lot of Self Employed contractors, etc. living here.. and don't have HIns... and should be required to apy into a Min. coverage plan..

and, I still don't see why, if your Employer is paying for your HC Ins.? You should not be paying Income tax on that BENEFIT.. it IS part of your Salary.. and the Employer is Deducting it off their Taxes and No taxes are being paid on this benefit.. That Tax in itself would help pay for alot of those Uninsured..or a NHC plan they say.. along with Boosting SS and Medicare $ sorely needed to keep it viable..

Imgaine At $10,000 per Employee gettting a Group HC plan x 15% Fed taxes alone is worht over $1,500 yr to the Fed , another 5% State and another 15% in SS and Medicare taxes

and The Employee would Benefit with getting More SS when they retire..as a result.

and George? We have to pay for Free Care wether we like it or not.. Thru Higher Hosp. Costs ( over 25% of our bill they say), Higher Dr. and ER Costs and Even Higher EMT/Paramedic service costs..

Just ask your Local Hospital and how much is added to their Bills to pay for the Uninsured comming in...

And Medicare is already in place and has done a Fair to Good Job and that is a Gov't Run operation, right?
And if it isn't? Guess what? You're going to Have to have and use it when your time comes, so you best get that Fixed to your liking , don't you think?

My wife does work in health care and I did ask her. Yes the insured do pay for the uninsured, but the hospitals lose far money money on the cut rates that medicare pays. The higher bills that the insured pay are mostly on account of the difference having to be made up from medicare and Medicaid. This would get worse under Obama-care. Driving everyone onto the government socialized medicine. I do think co-ops should be formed for the self employed.

Also, how much more do you libs think you can tax us? I think 30% of my income going to the government is enough. I work hard and should be able to keep the remaining 70%. Pretty soon it is not going to be cost prohibitive to work as hard as I do. If I get taxed much more I might as well get a job at Lowes. Then where will you libs get your money. I will be at a lower tax rate but bring home just as much.....

Oh that is right...That is what you all want. Everyone to live in utopia making the same amount. No rich people no poor people just everyone in the same brown wrapper. See where that gets this country!

Everyone has a right to access our health care system. Right now, people without a green card do better than middle class people seeking medical attention. Is his proposal perfect? No... but it's got to be better than what we don't have.

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Just because their are a few things that need fixing does not mean we scrap the whole thing. Fix what is broke and move on from there. Cap the insane amount of money people make for malpractice. I know the lawyers won't like that. Setup co-ops for self employed. And get rid of the illegals. I don't think bankrupting the country is a viable option. We need a solution that doesn't kill us in an effort to fix a few problems.

I think you should be given a choice to opt out. I don't pay for it I don't get it. Ahh Randy? I agree with most of what you say, but...FYI..

1. Illeagls and everyone else are Guaranteed to be taken care of thru our Hospitals/ER's and the bill has been paid by the FED & State/Taxpayers for Decades.. I think the last report was The Fed spent over $160 BILLION for doing this.. and States spent over 13% of their Income tax $ for it as well..

2. Many Self Employed Don't want to have to go get a Job for someone else.. just to get health Ins. and they don't want to Have to pay the Higher Premiums for a Individual Plan either..Until AFTER they need it , so they can use that $ to fund their Own Business and stay Self Employed ( That's why the Mass. plan works now )

3. 6 out of 10 younger Adults come in and ask for Health Ins.coverage AFTER they have a Problem or Need Maternity coverage..( the National Ins. Institute)
I wonder How much Just Milwaukee Hospitals provide in Care to that alone in 2008? Let alone the Whole State..

4. College Grads Also Don't want to have to take a job for someone just to get Health Ins. Coverage and want to Be Self Employed and Don't think they Need it either..Until AFTER they have a problem

5. Freedom to choose is nice if you Don't Need the Help from others, and it goes both ways.. You feel Everyone Deserves to be taken care of? Then Everyone best Chip in to pay for it..

Otherwise, let's allow a couple of thousand Die on the streets ( Gangs getting shot) or in Apt/s & Homes In Every State, for not taking care of them and that ought to scare the rest into Chipping in ..Don't you think?

6. As for those with Pre-X /Chronic Diseases, the States Uninsureable program is Over Loaded and Broke..
Apparently Individual States and their Politicans can't manage the $ for it and need to be Bailed out.. all the time..

So might as well let the Fed give it a try..

and I don't think the majority of people are capable of managing their own $, be it Saving enough to being Responsbile enough not to be a Burden on society..at some time in their lives..

Example: Ss is only about 50%-75% of what a Person Needs to reitre on, so why are they not having to pay More into it to make it 100% vs being allow the 'Freedom' to go save and invest it somewhere else and loose it all to Either a Divorce, Poor Judgements or Go Spend it on a New Truck or SUV and going to Disneyland or Spending it sending their kids to college?

I think the IRA $ we're allowed ($3,000 yr) should not be allowed to be invested into nothing but Safer Bond Investments.. and if a Person has More $, they can invest it in anything else they want..but it's Not IRA Tax Deductable $.. only Roth or taxable $ can be used for that..Type of GAMBLING..

Doubling our SS and Medicare payroll taxes would help as well.. Imagine Getting 50-100% more in SS and Not having to apy Any Medicare Sup. Plan Premiums, When you reach age 66 & Having $37.5k to $50k in SS comming in vs just $25k?

But Wall Street and the Politicans that are Paid off won't allow it.. It would be Alot less $ to be Spent On Wall Street and People would have Less to spend at Wal Mart and our Economy as a whole.. Just look at what Happened to Japan when they did that..Their savings rate is 3 Times as much as ours! They are Now just getting out of a Recesssion after the past 10 yrs !

and Co.'s would have to pay Twice as much to match that SS as well! And do you think they really care how you live after you leave them? Wether it's in a Decent Home, Apt., Mobile Home or in a Tent? and wether you live or Die?

tell me who doesn't have access to health care? people are not dying in the streets! I agree the cost is high but blame the corps. for that they seem to think the facilities need to be better looking than a 4 star hotel!

Well, back in the days of the 80's and 90's, that's what I did? ave.$4k yr on my $20k yr income.. than $5k yr in the 90's on making $25-$30k yr..

I think making Employee Plans Taxable is making Peoople alot ore aware fo what that kind of Plan is worth to them and Maybe will also give parents a Think twice on having more kids, since they cost the ave of $1,500 yr for their Health care alone, Each.. and ave $5.7k yr for each per over-all cost for them..

and Double that if your a Immigrant/Minority..Child..

and it is estiamted , due to Fatter Kids - obesity going on? those Cost will DOUBLE in the next 10-15 yrs..!

and guess what? It's In their GENES moreso than anything else.. It doesn't take a Multi Million Dollar College study to figure that out.. just Look at the Kids and then the parents..

And only reason People AREN'T dying in the streets? Thank our Fed. Gov't for Requiring Hospitals to provide Free Health Care in the ER's to the Homeless, Illegals & Gangs , Poor and Those who dn't want to pay for it and rather have a New Car instead..! And everyone else is paying for taking care them!

and they know this and have very little reason ( fear of loss) to change..

And if the new Plan goes thru? Tehy stil lwon't have to sign up and pay, just wait until tehy need it, then sign up and the Rest of us Taxpayers, will Subcidze the Premium for them..

Inother countries, they do treat Illegals,(stablize them) but they also deport them afterwords..

It's simple Self Preservation that is Needed, we can't afford this kind of expense anymore.. and Mil. Mayor Running for Govenor,( Dem) Tom Barret? Wants to Keep this kind of Program going and increase Benefits and Taxes to expand it.. Going after getting the Minoirty vote of course. Using the "it's the Right Christen thing to do" as an Excuse...
