How do we pay for this monster? Not with savings from the speech President Obama eluded to. That is utter hooey, I can not truthfully believe that will cover the costs of this. Government has never had the will to contain costs, why, it is not their money they are spending. As with all other government sponsered programs this one will also be a black hole in the coming years. I can not support more federal deficit spending, we are nearly bankrupt as a nation now, this will only hasten the dive into a finacial debacle.

Unfortunately, Americans seldom recognize and advocate for their own best interest. Truly tragic. When we cast "pearls before swine" to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars for an unsubstantiated war in Iraq - not a peep about cost or deficit: not to mention the unopposed "off-budget" items that amplified spending beyond all previous administrations combined. When it comes to spending on ourselves and our true domestic interest, there's always a resounding chorus of newly found "fiscal responsibility". Great. In essence it revolves around the perception of the role of government or the absence thereof. Got an idea: let's privatize social security and index link it to the stock market, liquidate medicare and transfer the funds to the general budget, eliminate two-thirds of the agencies on the federal registry, abandon the interstate highway system and we'll be floating in money as our sick and ailing society sinks into a state of anarchy.

To CitizenKane (#3) The war in Iraq, in my estimation, was and has been a total disgrace to this nation. We were duped into believing that this was justified - it was not. On that it appears we agree (there is my peep). You call it anarchy if we abandon many of the federal programs in place at this time, I agree to a point.
We would certainly suffer as a nation if these programs were cutailed, but consider this, we would completely unravel if the federal deficit continues to grow and (here is the wild card) the Chinese call in their chips in this poker game. The Chinese hold a large amount of our deficit and if they perceive their position as vulnerable they can call in the debt and ask for payment. What then? The entire unsustainable debt brings down the government. How likely?, I can not begin to comment on that, but I do not want one more dollar added to the deficit until we, as a nation, can display some financial resposibility and start to REDUCE this deficit.

Our GOVERNMENT.... is "By the People, For the People."

YOU!!!

Have the power to run for office, lobby for bills, AND vote people in and out of office.

You are giving YOUR power and YOUR responsibility away to private corporations to control YOUR life at a price.....

Wake Up!

Corporations spend millions on lobbyist to get money spent on the health of their business. The people need to lobby now so that we have money spent on OUR PERSONAL health....

Fight for your RIGHT to LIFE, LIBERTY and the PURSUIT of HAPPINESS!!!

Without the confidence that you will be taken care of in an emergency, there is no real security to properly enjoy what you have.

I know something needs to be done about Health care. Many people are without it. Those of us who do pay for health care can't hardly afford it. Businesses are rallying for a national Health care so they can unload the burden of providing health care for their employees onto the government...er..hello....us, so how much are we going to pay for this. NO DOUBT about it, we gonna pay dearly. Open up those billfolds and pocket books and let "Uncle Sam" take whatever he wants 'cause he is gonna take it too! of course our Congressmen won't go on the new "Po folk insurance". I think they should be required to be in the NEW PLAN if they serve the public. maybe then, it won't be to watered down and might not be to bad of a Health plan.

Look up the stats of the taxes they pay in Canada. They pay LESS taxes and get more services........ How is that possible?

We need to get politicians to cut the waist out of the budgets.... But how likely do you think that is?

Go to the source.... Not private organizations that sell you advice so that you can retire early. Anybody trying to sell you something, is using fake stats to push their agenda.

Don't be so naive to trust private corporations that are trying to make a buck.

Go to the source!

http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/ndvdls/fq/txrts-e...

Federal tax rates for 2009 are:

* 15% on the first $40,726 of taxable income,+
* 22% on the next $40,726 of taxable income (on the portion of taxable income between $40,726 and $81,452),+
* 26% on the next $44,812 of taxable income (on the portion of taxable income between $81,452 and $126,264),+
* 29% of taxable income over $126,264.

----------

How many Canadian companies do you see moving from Canada into the USA because of taxation?

How many US Businesses leave this country?

That alone should tell you a lot!

The cost of doing business in the USA is increased because of Health Care cost and waistfull spending of corrupt politicians...

All you have to do is look at a company like Haliburton. Billions of tax-payer funding, and they are raping, killing, and destroying everything that made the USA great.

What most people don't know about "manditory" health insurance, just a small detail of Obama's health care plan is this:
Manditory means by law you must purchase health insurance. Obama plans to set up an exchange where person can shop for a plan that suits them. Anyone who doesn't have insurance will be required by law to purchase it. Qualified low income persons or families can get Gov't help to pay thier premiums.
This is how Massachusetts set up their "manditory health" plan.
The individual mandate is a requirement that all Massachusetts residents over the age of 18, for whom available health insurance is affordable, obtain and maintain health insurance that meets minimum coverage requirements beginning July 1, 2007.
Individuals who cannot show proof of health insurance coverage by Dec. 31, 2007, will lose their personal income tax exemption when filing their 2007 income taxes. Also, failure to meet the requirement in 2008 will result in a fine for each month the individual does not have coverage.
This is one major point that proponents don't want the general public to know about.
In Massachusetts, a family of 4 with 2 working adults, making about 50k a year, is paying about $350.00 a month for minimum coverage requirements.
Is this what we want? You think the economy can withstand this? The above family could barely make ends meet as it is on 50k a year.

Yes. And that was compared to FEDERAL taxes of the USA too......

To compare ever state and every city and every province, is stupid..... You can find both cheaper and more expensive depending on location.

Right now, I pay MORE TAXES, than anybody who doesn't live in my city in the USA. Do you hear me crying about it? I don't complain about it because I fully understand what my $$$ is going towards.... It goes towards the best city on the planet. And yes, I have visited most major cities all across the globe comparing them too.

Why do so many people cry like a bunch of babies about taxes?

You pay more to the energy company and the gas pump than you ever do in taxes, how much of that $$$$ comes back to you?

Excuse me for wanting to live in the best country on the planet.... I am not happy with being ranked #34...

When did 34th place become a good thing?
