our health care system is broken and needs to be fixed. it is embarrasing that we spend more per capita, and have worse outcomes than other industrialized countries. even worse, we have 40 million people w/o health coverage.

Medicare and medicaid already don't work. Obviously taking $500B from Medicare to pay for universal coverage will make Medicare better?

Everyone -- poor, middleclass, wealthy, young and old...deserves equal rights...this includes healthcare. To not desire this in your hearts is pure evil, pure selfishness, and NOT of the God who created ALL men, women, and children. Why is this so hard for so many to digest? They are selfish, self-centered, and have in inner problem with sharing that didn't start with this health care proposal. Think back into your childhood, your family tree, your position in the family (which number child you are)...how did you feel about sharing and giving to those less fortunate than yourself...none exclusive? How did you feel about sharing with your siblings, your friends, the homeless you past on the street everyday? Were you the type of personality that put others "unlike yourself" down? Did someone put you down a lot when you were growing up? Remember the story in the bible where the prodigal son came home, and the other son who never left was jealous? That story is there for a reason. For those opposing equal rights for all regardless of the person's situation...I pray for you.

The only socialized medicine I've seen work is in China. There are no barriers between doctor, specialist, pharmacy and patient. Also no appointment is needed. There is no waiting and results are given on the spot. If needed you go directly to the hospital or downstairs to the pharmacy. Also there are many streetside pharmacies that have a nurse available to keep you from having to go to the doctor. And the costs are very low, paperwork is mininum, if any, no frills, just help.

Way too much religion there Renee. But if you want to bring it into the topic fine. Don't you think God wants people to be responsible for themselves and their family? Isn't having kids, or not taking care of yourself, or not buying insurance when you can, also against what God would want us to do.

Your position breeds irresponsibility, in that people can do what they want, then run to the government for things they would rather not pay for themselves.

I am amazed at how all the 30 million people seem to have money for rent, car payments, gas, food, clothing, cell phones, flat screen tvs, beer and liquor, eat at restaurants, ticket to moves, ball games, I could go on and on, yet for health care they cry poverty.

No God does not want me to pay the bills for other irresponsible people. He wants them to be responsible. If I am my brothers keeper, then who is mine? Why should I take care of my family and myself, then go around and go broke paying for others.

Your whole view just breeds dependency, deficit spending, and more of a mess when government gets involved. There is no difference in paying for medical care as there is any other service or product. If government was not involved, prices would moderate to a level where people could afford it. For those not physically or mentally capable, I see no problem helping them, but all the others, forget it.

Insurance companies, as corporations, have only one goal: to make money for their stockholders. The government's goal is to serve this country. Why continue to trust the corporations to provide something as critical as health care?

So the doctor who drives a lexus or the health care provider who buys a sony instead of hp should have their income provided by the government. They had every right to buy what they did, only problem is their customer cant afford them because they didnt buy their customers product. Its real simple,if you provide a service I cant pay for it unless you buy what I make.I what I make is nolonger made here then you lose.

Government run healthcare did not work in Hawaii. It almost bankrupted the state in a matter of months. Why would anyone be fool enough to think it will work on a national level.

I'm so glad you feel this way, I'll send you my address and you can send half your paycheck every week to support my family. And oh wait I'll send you the addresses of every person in my city and you can send them a half of your paycheck. and then we'll continue until every person in America gets half/part of your paycheck. Thanks for sharing!

Also, I really hope your a female, because if you ever get breast cancer, I hope for your sake and your family, the government doesn't tell you at age 47, that you are too old to receive care. Don't believe its possible? look into England's health plan.

I also hope that you tithe every week, because if you have the balls to bring God into a forum about health care, you better be giving money to your church.

Health care is not about everyone being equal. It's something earned, When do Americans realize you have to work for things in life? The entitlement ideology is ridiculous. I'm 23 and living in the United States without health care, I can not afford it, but I don't think my neighbors should pay MORE taxes so I can go to the doctors.

Look into the economics, Less Government= efficiency.
