Our country cannot afford it and the government does not run ANYTHING efficiently. Post office, medicaid, medicare, food stamps...all riddled with fraud and abuse or bankruptcy.

Actually,

The Police, Army, library, fire service, etc are quite well run. Why should healthcare be the odd one out?

Because the corporations want it so..........

Those things, or most of them anyways, are specified govt functions and responsibilities. I always ask the proponents of govt handled health care, do they think the govt handled Katrina well? How about the war on terror? The war on drugs? Etc., etc. Does their confidence in govt ability depend on who is in office/power? Knowing that such power can change with any election, do they STILL favor the govt taking health care (or any industry at that) over?

It's not anyone else's problem but your own you can't afford your health care. Stop having babies, buying 4k dollar tv's and houses you people can't really afford and go get a real job like the rest of us have to. Army seems to have failed this time with that lunatic killing 13 people. Police, library and fire are local gov't not run by a bunch of dingbats so outta touch with the real world

Cap the amount a person can receive in a lawsuit then health care cost would go down.

The government needs to improvise a flat tax rate, do away with income taxes, let industries thrive and get people back to work. The President and congress should be there for no reason then to offer protection in war time situations and handle federal payments for existing programs........
They have no business being in the mortgage business, health care, baseball, global warming, and any other thing they feel obligated to stick their nose in.

That amateur couldn't find the light if it was on in his hand. Carter/Clinton re-visited, and that's very bad for the country. Viva Congressional elections in 2010!
