I went to the ER one time with a toothache and I was sent home with a pair of pliers and a pain pill. Plus, my insurance company wouldn't cover it - said I should have gone to Home Depot.

What is your solution for people that have something serious - such as cancer - when they do not or cannot qualify for insurance - or have been recently laid off? You're talking about tylenol - what about chemotherapy? How does one get that if they can't get insurance?

It constantly amazes me that the same people that say the following:
Bush Lied/CIA-no weapons of mass destruction.
CIA tortures prisoners
Patriot act is bad-infringes on privacy.
Iraq war is bad.
Afghan war is bad.
Guantanamo is a crime.
Bush caused 9/11
Fema didnt get to Katrina fast enough
etc etc

However....these same people that bash one phase or administration of the government are very ready and willing to turn over the most personal thing a person can get...healthcare...to the exact same people.
Do you liberals think that the current administration will be in power forever? Do you not think that Republicans could run your healthcare in the future? Wake up. The Government is inefficient and incompetent at MOST jobs let alone running healthcare. Take a look at things like the Post Office...going broke...Medicare...going broke...SSI...going broke...VA hospitals...deplorable.
You cant bash one segment of the government such as the military complex on one hand then say "oh the gov is so great we need it to run our healthcare" on the other. Its the same government.
We need the government OUT of as much of our lives as possible. There are no freebies in this world. You get what you pay for..no matter whether it is government run or not. The only difference will be that there will be NO recourse if the gov. doctor screws up your cancer diagnosis. Who are you going to sue....Obama? Pelosi? yeah right.
With gov care there will be decreased coverage, decreased quality of care, increased cost and longer waits for everything. The private sector does EVERYTHING better than gov. Free markets are the way to go. Communism is not.

Why on earth would anyone not support this health care plan? The only reason I can think of is some people do not know what the plan really is and fear it is Socialism.

Coming from a medical background, I know this plan is a good one. Hillary was going toward Socialized Care where Doctors would get paid by the Government and everyone would be forced into a Government program. This plan will be one where people are covered by private insurance companies of their choice if they do not have insurance now. Those that have insurance now will simply save one thousand a year because our health care system costs 300 million people one thousand a year because the poor do not get preventative care, end up very sick requiring expensive treatments we pay for.

There are also those that go to the ER with a cold and leave us stuck with the bill.

The Obama plan is not perfect, but the way I look at it is take this plan now before some future President brings in Socialized medicine. Change has to be made so let's do it now with this plan instead of waiting for a plan that really could be bad for the Nation.

The reason TNCare did not work had nothing to do with the platform of the way it was paying for legal residents of Tennessee.

It failed because no checks were in place which meant people from all surrounding States were pretending to live here to get health care and some getting offered insurance through work lied and said no insurance offered. Those things were illegal and they destroyed TNCare.

How did Tennessee deal with the problem? Instead of cracking down and fixing it, they simply threw those most in need off keeping the more healthy people on it. They should have thrown people from out of State off and put those telling lies about other insurance in jail forced to pay Tennessee back any money spent!

The Governor screwed up and he should have been voted out of office. I could have fix the TNCare problem myself because it was so simple to fix. What did we end up with now? Uninsured people with no preventative care to take the cancer out for a thousand bucks that end up in the ER requiring a hundred thousand dollars worth of treatments and they end up passing away from the cancer anyway leaving us a big bill. It costs us more now than it did before when TNCare was insuring those with no insurance.
The Obama plan will fix things so people cannot just jump State boarders to suck Tennessee dry. Besides that, Tennessee is the best State in the Nation anyway so why should we pay more? We have everything here like water in which Georgia tried to steal when they could simply get a pipeline to the Atlantic for water. We have natural fresh water here, the perfect climate to grow our food, the best people and the most scenic State with four full distinct seasons with none being too harsh, good businesses and lovely families for the most part.

Even the gay and lesbians here are great people and we have a pretty good relationship between black and white. Down in Georgia they have terrible race relations and the same is true in Alabama. The gays and lesbians down there are out of control bed hopping while here we see most of them in committed relationships.

Take from those who have and give to those who don't isn't the governments responsibility. If some Americans are so worried about the people who don't have health care, donate your own money to organizations that help those in need. KEEP IT OUT OF THE GOVERNMENTS HANDS!
