I have been a single mom without health care but teh plan that they are proposing is gonna be more expensinve than private plans are so how are single parents or lower income families gonna be able to afford this. I was a single mome with one child making 26000.00 per year and with rent a car payment and car insurance with no child support there was nothing left to pay for health care with...so what do they expect families like that to do?? There is no govt help for us.

I don't really know enough about it (the issues) to voice an opinion, except that if i'm right i'm hearing some say that a public-option would create competition among HC providers , and i'm for anything that would lower the cost of healthcare and put a virtual cap on "Fat Cat" overfluffed pocket lining of people in the system that don't really give a rat's %ss about us. Othet than that , i use the VA healthcare system for which i'm entitled to for my country service,...however good OR bad that seems when i need it.

Democrats have now backed off their original promise of cutting health care costs because they know their bill will RAISE costs, making everything more expensive for all of us. The government NEVER fixes anything. It can take a good situation and make it bad, or take a bad situation and make it worse!

1) It is not the taxpayers fault that you were a single parent.
2) There are free clinics
3) There are jobs with health insurance, the military is an option.
4) Earned income credit may be enough to pay for health insurance, this program is welfare through the IRS instead of social services. This is a payment to people who did not pay in enough to get a refund. It is not earned. It should be stopped and paid directly to an insurance program of the individuals choice. We do not need another government program. People should not have to pay higher taxes on money they EARNED and have it handed out to others who do not use it responsibly. As it stands, they can use it for whatever they want (Big screen TV's, beer...)

The government should not compete with any company.

It's the worst kind of tyranny. The kind that is imposed on you for your own good. Why does the govt need to be involved? For the 12 million TRUELY uninsured? No. For the POWER it ensures them. Vote them ALL out in 2010. That's the only power we have left.

And then what? Have a bunch of freshmen in the government tht don;t know what the heck they are doing either? The government is the government and there is nothing that we can do. This problem will continue to be a problem no matter who is in office. People need to stand up for themselves, get a real job, real insurance and quit living off the working man. Food stamps, AR Kids First, and all these "free" government handouts are too easy for the trash that is using it. Get off your butts, close your legs, and quit poppoing out kid after kid from every loser that comes along. I am so tired of paying for everyone else's white-trash lifestyle.

You need to get off her or his back! They didn't say they was on any kind of goverment program or living off you tax money. Just giving their opion thats all. I mean how do you know why they are single or if they are using their money responsibly or not. Do you know this indiviual personally or do you just want to trash someone tonight?

My mistake on the date.

But the point remains when talking about this subject someone is always bashing a single parent and telling them what they should and should not do. How to spend their money, to go get a diffrent job, blah blah blah,. These indiviuals sound like the goverment which is trying to govern every move we make as a citizens. I for one am tried of hearing that. Their is very large majority of single parents busting their butts raising kids without help from anyone. They should be commended of that not ridiculed. As far as the state we are in as a country on the insurance issue. It took all walks of life, diffrent types of family makes-up and all of races we have in the USA to get to problem we are at today with insurance crises. So quit blamming one group of indivuals look at the larger picture.

No I dont agree with this plan. We dont need another tax on americans. What needs to be done is to make health care affordable to everyone and that would start at the Insurance Companies. I believe thats were they need to start. Instead of letting them raise health care rates everytime someone breaks a leg or something.
