looks like i screwed up my last post in here, what meant to say was. if the government passes this health bill, will that mean all veterans can get health care here in town? or do we have to go to vegas to see a doctor? if i was on welfare, i could go to a doctor here in town, but because i am a vet i have to travel north, and if i have to go to the hospital that is a very long trip to flagstaff

First off, I would like to thank you for your service to our country.
Driving to Vegas is very inconvenient and time consuming, to say the least. But I would bet anything that the quality of healthcare that you receive there beats anything in Bullhead. There are exceptions to every rule, and a contradicting story for ever person`s view, but as you are a veteran, you deserve the best and you'd be hard pressed to find it in Bullhead City's healthcare. I speak from my own experience. Not only was the care a relative that I took care of sub-standard, the incompetence I dealt with starting with the 911 operator to WARMC hospital was disturbing. The hospital added insult to injury by double billing, charging for services they didn't do, and padding their bills. Of course they do this and get away with it because most patients don't know any better. Or in my relative's case the patient can't contest when he's dead. His so-called doctors were still billing him 6 months after his death. I made sure to tell the right agencies because medicaid shouldn't be abused. So if you decide to pursue your healthcare options here in town, please be an aggressive patient, ask questions, demand answers, don't accept a first diagnosis as your only diagnosis, and pay attention to the billing paperwork! Keep them honest and you healthy! Good luck.

Is it true that you shouldn't get hurt on a weekends here? I was told local Dr's don't work weekends, but one of them owns the helicopter that will take you to vegas for treatment if needed, for around $10,000.00. No wonder he doesn't work weekends if this is in fact true.

thanks for your comment, i do watch where i go, and how i get billed.the care that veterans get is good, it is just the traveling that is a pain.my point was, try taveling when you have a fever, and feel like crap. veterans should be able to go to any doctor, at any time. welfare folks can. and they never see a bill. the hospital is about 3 hours away if you go over the speed limit. well we will see what happens. thanks again

This whole thread is ludicrous. The care in BHC is the best I've ever had and I've lived all over the country. Top notch & the quality is second to none. Do you guys complain about everything all the time? I guess making up stuff is what these internet chat rooms are all about so carry on I guess. If you really want bad healthcare try Dallas TX or Miami FLA then some legitimate critisizm would be in order.

Really? Is that why we have so many foreign doctors here? Few American doctors come here, why's that? I've no doubt we do have great health care workers here, but ask any nurse if they are assigned too many patients at a time.

I'm not going to engage in the typical run around conversation that always seems to happen in these chat room places. One or two chat people always seem to enjoy spending there lives here on the internet complaining about anything and everything. let's just be realistic here and leave it at that. ALL cities across this great nation have their fair share of good Doctors and not so good ones, Same thing with nurses etc. I'll leave you with this though. Try getting into a hospital or Doctors office in Florida when there's a few hundred illegal's standing in line ahead of you.

Hospital bill double because they have to survive, and the doctors don't work for nothing. Our Health Insurance cost is so high because we have more than 30 million ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS using the emergency rooms, and by law, they have to be serviced. Some one has to pay for that, don't you think so? Most people blame the Insurance companies, but we have to be realistic, and know that they have to pay the hospital for what they are bill for.

BRAVO! Finallly someone touching the real issue. There are more than 30 million ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS using the emergency rooms, and no one who complains about the high cost of Health Insurance, or the quality of service, thinks about why is there that problem. How innocent people are, or they don't read? They don't know what is going on? Everyone wants to have affordable Health Care, but they don't think that it will be impossible, because someone has to pay for the more than 30 million ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS? Where do they think that money is going to come from? How can the government manage to lower the Health Insurance cost if there are more than 30 million illegal immigrants to be taken care of? Don't be naive, be realistic, wake up! The Obama's plan is to force every citizen to buy Health Insurance, whether they can afford it or not, this way every citizen will be contributing, will be forced, to pay for the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.

http://www.google.com/search...

This degenerates will get sick, and end up in the emergency rooms, and they don't have to pay for the services. No one would look for them. A citizen who owns something to the hospital will be chase to the grave with the bill.

I've no doubt illegal’s raise our bills. But most of the blame gets to go to the Wal-Marts and other big box stores for forcing all of our decent factory jobs to China. The trickle down has hurt health care and the economy worse then the housing bubble or illegal’s combined.

Now most of the smaller companies that are still in business can't afford to offer employee health plans. Or they are on the verge of dropping them.

Everyday more and more people are being dropped, or simply can't afford the never ending rate increases. Considering most workers don't have guaranteed pay raises, many are lucky to still have jobs, in fact lately many have taken pay cuts or switched to part-time, there becomes a breaking point.

Now each and everyday, more workers become un-insured. These costs must be absorbed, therefore the fewer and fewer insured, get to pay more and more.

I have no answers, but I sure can see the problems. We have much more to work on then just health care, to fix health care.

try being a veteran and get in to see the doctor at all, or try to get in when the room is full of welfare folks. these are rough times we live in right now, and folks are just going to have to do what we need to go to a doctor........just try to find a good one here in bullhead.

"ludicrous"? No. As I stated in my earlier post, there are some people whose experiences with B.H.C.'s healthcare would be different than mine. You had a positive experience, that's very fortunate, good for you. I fail to see how anyone who posted on this topic is lying about anything-really what's our motive?

As for the helicopter transport issue, from what I understand it's because WARMC doesn't have a critical care dept/equiptment. That`s why you read so much about knife wound injuries and victims of severe car accidents being airlifted to Vegas. Weekends are a really inconvenient time to get to a doctor. I haven't seen 1 "urgent care" clinic open on weekends or god forbid past 5 p.m. on weekdays. The E.R. is the only option. You can be certain they take all major credit cards...lol. You can't be sure you'll be getting optimal care.
As for why there are so many foreign doctors? I can speculate but the factual reason is probably one nobody will want to admit without being anonymous or on the record. A part-time nurse told me "why would one go through medical school, be bogged down with student loans, and "choose" to practice here, when they can make 3 times that amount in a major metropolis/city? Think about it." I had to agree with her.

Fine, you just made my point. No matter where you live a person might have a bad experience and another a good experience. There are plenty of good & bad healthcare professionals in every state of the union but to single out one geographical location and bad mouth the industry as a whole is just plain ludicrous as I said before. Just remember you can have a bad experience anywhere and that includes exclusive high end cities like Beverly Hills. Know how many mal practice suits happen every day in the so called 'rich' cities? Too many to count I'm afraid.

Knife wounds? Car Crashes? lol ,Try Florida my friend and you'd be amazed at the illegal activities all the big drug cartels bring to the streets.

Bottom line ,there's good & bad in every city in the world and that's a fact.

Last year was a little rough but this year turned out great. Bullhead has some fine medical professionals and that's a fact. You should live in the Northeast like Rhodes Island or Maine ,then I think you might learn to appreciate the fine medical staff in Bullhead.

You should really read the content of the posts you are responding to before going off half-cocked.

I made no point for you. In my initial post I said that different people would have different experiences (which is common sense). The only thing you have done is claimed a positive one. Your point about me making a point for you is your mistake.

How does that old quote go, "The Lady doth protest too much."?

In reference to your above post that "WE are doing much better this year" in regards to ER waiting room times, and that "BHC has some of the finest medical practioners", I must say that you don't sound like a patient to me, but you surely sound like an employee of a fine BHC medical practioner.

I have no motive other than to share my personal experiences with BHC medical care so that someone else could use that info- or not. I am not here to spin, promote, or do damage control.
Calling other people's posts ludicrous and going off topic about things like Florida's drug cartels makes me question your integrity and motive where this thread's subject is concerned.

By the way, knife wounds and car crashes were in reference to the limitations of WARMC's critical care unit not what misfortunes one could encounter.

Let's keep the thread open to people who want to relate their HONEST EXPERIENCES AS PATIENTS- good or bad. So other potential patients can come to their own conclusions.

"left miami" is right. You seem a little on the daffy side truth n cons. And yes I guess that's what discussion boards like these are here for , to let down the hair and just act goofy. People with alot of spare time can just vegitate in front of their puters making up crap to entertain themselves, can be fun at times but..

Here's the truth Ruth. My experience with Bullhead Medical professionals was A-PLUS. Very experienced , warm , and knowledgible. The worst experience I ever had was in what I call the crime capitol of the universe Denver Colorado and the next worst was in Bangor Maine.

thank you. we had an insurance meeting last night, and for us to keep the plan we have now it is going to cost each employee $105.24 every two weeks. thats more than my truck payment. i have to drop out, for a family at my job the cost is $673.54 every two weeks. with a $2000.00 deductible. who can afford that? i am up there in years, and will have no health insurance after jan. i am a veteran so i can go there, however that is a trip to vegas when i need to go. thank you obama
