My father, Dr. Antonio Mortera, is a former president of the Ohio Urological Association and is highly regarded by his peers and patients for the last 50+ years. He is the epitome of a role model physician in terms of his knowledge, experience, work ethic and humanism. At 85, he still works tirelessly to improve the quality of care that his patients receive and is a staunch advocate for them. He has never done anything to harm his patients and has an outstanding track record. He is contracting in a small practice in rural OH and is treating patients who have NO health insurance and who often drive long distances to see him because they have been turned away by all the other physicians and hospitals due to the inability to pay for proper and desperately needed care. My father is a physician of the old school who will treat someone who cannot pay. How many physicians today are practicing that kind of medicine? These patients are hard working people, sometimes working more than one job and who have children, all without health insurance, and with chronic health problems that must be followed. My father has had to fight insurance companies to reimburse him for services provided and yet these companies have refused to pay him, leaving the office no choice but to abandon their efforts in trying to get paid. The result is that they are now taking patients who can pay the very small nominal fee and those who cannot. My father is picking up and catching the patients that are falling through the cracks of the healthcare system. He is constantly seeking ways to make things better and is fighting the system on his own, without support, and yet he perseveres. He is doing his part, but it is not enough. We must help those who do not have the coverage as it is truly their right to have what we all deserve.

Too costly! People will end up paying more taxes (even those who make 40G and more!), The tax will be under Value-Added Tax, just like National Tax in all of Europe.
Also, what's making people think, that so called Universal Healthcare for all USA will be working, if in only one State of MASS., after only a few years, the same Universal Healthcare is failing, and very fast, unfortunately.

Here is mayor Bloomberg showing his concern for the ILLEGAL LAW BREAKERS, not for the citizens. And he wants more "IMMIGRANTS" to come to New York. He never tells people that they are ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. How is it that New York has a deficit, instead of a surplus if ILLEGAL immigration is the motor for the economy? How is it that all Sanctuary states for ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS have a deficit, and those states which are not sanctuaries don't?

The mayor is inviting more ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. He feels there are not enough. And he is offering them Health Care. How about to the citizens?

If so many million of ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS are the engine to the economy, how come New York is in deficit? It does not make sense.

Those opposed to health care reform will oppose any policy proposed by Democrats regardless their stance on the issue. Republicans - bought and paid for by industry - can garner support by misinforming a naive, misinformed and gullible public by teasing their emotions with the help of self-enriching demagogues, whose sole purpose is to create an atmosphere of fear and hatred solely so that they can implement policies that will undermines the very people they claim to represent. Cross-national studies have consistently shown that American rank among the bottom of a long list of countries whose people have even the most rudimentary knowledge of public affairs, which makes them easy pickings for suckers.

We have the costliest, least effective and most complicated health care system in the world that doesn't even cover everyone while the pharma's and insurance companies make millions scaring everyone into buying pills. We desperately need an overhaul.
