Is it crazy to use the proper definition of an item? The true definition of an assault weapon is FULLY AUTOMATIC.

- during the 1994-2004 weapons ban . The govt re-defined assault weapon to the following

-the federal law includes "any semiautomatic rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of..." and then lists five features or sets of features:

a folding or telescoping stock;
a pistol grip that protrudes "conspicuously" beneath the action of the weapon (whatever that means);
a bayonet mount;
a flash suppressor or a threaded barrel "designed to accommodate a flash suppressor";
a grenade launcher.

-which any rifle or shotgun can be

The current AR15 legally sold today is Semi automatic as is your Kimber. By adding an extension your semi automatic Kimber can hold 30 rounds.

My point....Any semi auto can be termed assault weapon by the definition the Govt has put in place.

-We as citizens need to be educated and pay attention to antyregulation the govt attempts to put in place. Stay with the facts and not get caught up in popular catch phrases that sound good.

I stand by my post...The preferred weapon by thugs is the Semiauto Pistol.

Missed one item you questioned
-AR15 is a good weapon for sport. The problem with jamming is not the gun but the magazine and the quality of rounds used and t not having a steady proper grip.

The 100 round magazines are notorious for jamming
- most jams are caused by the shooters lack of ability to hold the weapon properly.

One last point. It is a .223. That is point 223 not 223. A . 223 round is similar in size to a long Rifel 22 round. Look it up these are the facts. The .223 round is lno more lethal than the Kimber you say you carry every day. I suspect the closest you have come to owning a firearm are the words you post on this thread. It is ok to not have knowledge on a subject such as this. However it is deception when you try to appear to know what you are talking about. Please as a gun owner I encourage you to educate yourself before you strap that Kimber on your hip.

Not seeing another child have their life cut short by gun violence and "accidents" would make me happy. somehow you people seem to think the answer is less regulation and and easier access to fire arms.
For one if someone owns a gun you should teach your child that guns are not toys, and keep them up, in a place where children can not reach them. Two, guns dont kill people, people kill people.

If that is the case, people can't be trusted with guns do to their preoccupation with killing other people.

Agreed, education is key to gun ownership. Many gun accidents involving children is caused by curiosity and horse play. A fully educated child will think first before playing with a gun.

Why stop at guns? There are knives, hammers,cast iron skillets,fire,human hands etc... All of which can be lethal. Are you just being sarcastic, or is this what you truly believe?

Exactly, if guns were taken from us the people who use them for the wrong reasons would just find something else.

Assault... rifle? Am I the only one who thinks that's the most stupid term to be invented, ever? If it's being used to attack people, any gun is an 'assault' weapon. If a gun has just slightly outside of some spec on one of it's features how does it magically become any more deadly? If it's name just happens to have an A at the beginning? Certain style of stock? Automatic/Semi/Cocked/...?

What's considered an assault rifle in one state isn't in another and the definitions are as complex as college chemistry. Yeah, the law is an ass as the saying goes.

Thats right, they put a scary name in front of rifel and everyone thinks is is more lethal than any other gun. The so called assault Rifel is no more lethal than any other semi automatic. My fear is the Anti gun group will try to outlaw all semi autos since they have redefined it in 1994 and deceived the general public. Look at governor Quinn is doing in Illinois. He is trying to get all semii autos outlawed.
