Some of the worst violence is where the gun laws are the most strick. So.... NO to reforming gun laws. Gun laws are an avenue for the government to be more controlling.

Rahman Emanuel said, "Never let a crisis go to waste.". That's exactly what the left is doing in the aftermath of the actions of ONE lunatic in Aurora, CO. This poll question and the whole issue of gun control would not be front page news if it weren't for this tragedy and the on-going UN Gun Treaty talks, which is a farce in and of itself.

Tell me how stricter gun laws are going to help when last time I checked criminals don't obey the law. If you make it to where legal gun owners can't carry guns then crime will get worst because then criminals will know you have no defense. They will know they have a gun and can be pretty sure you don't!

I tried to purchase a gun. It was delayed. Havent heard a word since. About 3 or 4 days ago. I have a felony, but I've had it expunged in court. They have a very serious warning when you file an application to purchase even a shotgun. I put down I did not have a felony....... because it had been expunged. They've made it a perjury offense, punishable by 10 years in jail and/or $10,000 dollar fine. Does the punishment fit the crime????? Doesn't sound constitutional!!!!(If the applicant did indeed lie on the application.) However it doesnt ask if the felony has been expunged, it just outright denies your application, and you have to research how to file an appeal.

Although I did not lie, I just figure the expungement has never met up with the felony arrest back when I was 18 years old, around 40 years ago. Bad records by the govt. So I cant purchase a firearm to protect my family in a bad neighborhood.

I did purchase a 410 shotgun about 20 years ago, without any problems at all. Its been collecting dust for over 20 years. But with the lawlessness that is so rampant in the world today, I just want to provide a safer environment for my family.

I think the problem with gun laws is that friends buy for friends, and family buys for family, but thats a good thing also if you are in a position like me. However, if you are a felon on the prowl for more bad lawlessness, then it is a good law.

Didn't they tell you if the NCIS check is not denied in 5 days that you could come back and get your gun?

The waiting period is there for a reason. As an ex felon it takes some time to make sure you truely aren't a prohibited person.

If you don't like the process you have to go through now, you shouldn't have commited the crime.

Oh and if someone is a prohibited person and they get a friend or family member to buy the gun for them, both the prohibited person and the purchaser are in a world of trouble when caught. Don't go dragging someone else into your troubles.

That is beside the point. The NCIS check is there to ensure that prohibited persons don't purchase firearms. If you have something in your background that requires you to wait a few days before taking possession of a firearm so be it. What is 3,4,5 days?

Would you rather violent felons or people with mental issues simply be able to purchase a firearm and do stupid stuff that could possibly kill innocent people?

He did something when he was younger that makes him put up with a bit of inconvience now. That is life. If he is able to purchase a gun, then by now he will have gone back and picked it up. If he is not able to, then the NCIS check did what it was supposed to.

I agree. I did not mean to indicate that I would have that changed. I was simply meant to state that most 18 year olds probably do not consider the future.

The news stated that the theater did not allow conceal permit holders to carry inside the theater. If they had maybe things would have been different, who knows?

Disarming law abiding people who possess legally purchased firearms will not prevent any crimes, it will only make the Good Americans of this Nation easier prey for the low life, respectless scum that plagues it. How about we "reform" the penalty for possessing a stolen firearm and make it carry a mandatory 30 year sentence.
