Things work as is. the only reason its an issue is that the media puts every story of gun violence on air that it can without publishing the self defense stories and lives saved ect...

I have always believed that there needs to be a better level of background checks when purchasing any firearms. I also believe that certain people should never have the right to possess a firearm regardless.. Here are some examples of my beliefs..

A person on disability due to mental instability or anxiety.

Any person that has ever been convicted of attacking, abusing or have molested a child.

Anybody ever convicted of rape.

Anybody that has been convicted of assault,or other violent crime that is similar to someone convicted of spouse abuse or domestic violence where one has been charged and convicted of a violent act.

Anybody convicted of armed robbery, home invasion or theft. Felons,(not someone who has written a few bad checks) That may be a double standard but writing a bad check and being a felon is not in the same ball park as a felon convicted of a violent drime. key-word "violent"

Any one who has abused animals.

Anybody convicted of arson.

Anyone that as been on prescribed antidepressents or other mind altering drugs longer than 6 months.

Anyone that has been convicted of a drug crime especially if they have tested positive for drug use while being convicted of illegal drug possession, selling or trafficking.

Most of the folks with problems like a mentioned above are damaged goods. They either can't help the problem they have or have clearly made a bad choice that should barr them from the second ammendment. I PERSONALLY HAVE FIREARMS TO PROTECT MY FAMILY AND I FROM THE OFFENDERS I MENTIONED ABOVE..

I am a civil human being and a responsible adult that has guns, and i believe all responsible and civil american citizens should have the right to bear arms.

Guns don't kill people, dumba$$ people kill people..

i agree although most of those things are already checked like the felons and violent misdemeanors i just cant believe the liberals thinking its ok to disarm all people just because of a fews crimes. laws never kept a criminal from committing a crime. no sign no law no warnings or catch and release jail system nothing.burns me up!

Another tragedy today with the crash of the pick up truck in Texas. That lone vehicle crash killed more people than a multiple gun toting psychopath in a crowded movie theatre. Both of these events are extremely sensitive and tragic, however there is no loud "cry" to ban automobiles, and or gasoline, but we are now debating gun and ammo laws?

I am left wondering if all the people in that theatre would have been armed, would the idiot have done as much damage before someone could have took him down? The idiot would have possibly not even entered that establishment knowing all the others in there were armed just like him.

The second amendment clearly protects the rights of the people to own firearms, preventing the government from infringing on that right.

The Second Amendment of the Constitution reads:“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Which well regulated militia do you belong to and train with to secure our nation's safety?

that clause is always quoted yet it means the people can form a militia if need be and each man is responsible for his own weapons. if invaded a well regulated militia will be necessary to the states freedom. in case of an invasion men are supposed to meet at city hall with their weapons and vote on militia leadership thus regulating themselves into the militia.

1. The 2nd Amendment gives lawabiding citizens the right to bear arms. That's "BEAR ARMS". Not just the right to own them. It is the last line of defense against a tyranical government.

2. Better background check? Other than the FBI database background check now done? Or maybe a liberal, no gun adhoc committee that would decide my ability to purchase a firearm.

3. To all you liberal, tree hugging, anti-gun people. When the shit hits the fan in this country, whether it be by some cataclysmic event, financial collapse, or a myraid or other senarios, you will be the sheep
That the wolves wii prey on. Then you will be wondering how to protect yourselves.

It is the constitutional amendment. It doesn't make any difference if you had a no guns allowed, the criminals would always have them, plus that would make us a socialist country. Why punish law abiding citizens for the crimes of a few.

Maybe we should ban democrats,lol.

DEMOCRATS AND GUN VIOLENCE GO HAND IN HAND

"Why is it that those who steal guns, who then go and kill movie goers and children in school have never been a conservative NRA member?

Ft Hood -Registered Democrat – Muslim

Columbine -Too young to vote; both families were registered Democrats and progressive liberals

Virginia Tech -Wrote hate mail to President Bush and to his staff – Registered Democrat

Colorado Theater -Registered Democrat; staff worker on the Obama campaign; Occupy Wall Street participant; progressive liberal

Connecticut School Shooter -Registered Democrat; hated Christians

Common thread is that all of these shooters were progressive liberal Democrats. INTERESTING…,isn’t it?"
