Maybe you ought to consider moving to Montana to join a militia...and take Smiley with you too! Ill bet you those Germans would of done a lot better for themselves if they were a little bit paranoid when H I.t l.e r started confiscating guns.

PA has its own milita...lol Just curious, why are u willingly placing yourself in a state of helplessness??? If crap does break out do u honestly believe that the gov forces can protect everyone? Suppose theres a natural catastrophy and rioters and looters begin to wreak havoc on the community. How would u feel about going to bed in the dark without anyway to protect yourself? Phones are out of commision, power is out....crazed looking strangers are creeping all around the outside of your home...as u sit inside waiting for gov forces to rescue U! Its your RESPONSIBILITY to protect your home, and family! So instead you have chosen to take the route that will cost the lifes of those u love!

It should be open carry, crime would go down if Law abiding citzens were armed and had proper training.

Now if only the gun owners would get themselves a set of B*LLS" and strap their guns where they could be seen! http://paopencarry.org/ I am amazed by the number of people who think u need a permit to open carry! check out the cop at about 8 mins. He goes from harrassing the gun owner to the taking issue with a sign the girl scouts posted on a light pole...lol.. http://www.youtube.com/watch...

Vain HK wrote: <quoted text> What would you define as an assault weapon? A semi-automatic with a large capacity clip. Unless you are going on a shooting rampage, or are a drug dealer protecting your turf or offing the competition, who needs a clip with 30, 50, or 100 rounds? If Holmes' clip hadn't jammed, there would have been many more dead. Here's a Glock 17: http://us.glock.com/products/model/g17 It has a 17 round clip standard, with the option of a 19 or 33 round clip. 33 rounds? Unless you're a cop in the middle of shootout, what everyday Joe needs one of these?

For Christ's sake, this isn't the Wild West any more. This quote from Tommy Lee Jones in Men In Black, best sums it up: "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals, and you know it." Imagine if everyone was packing in that theater. They would have panicked and would have shot each other!

Yeah, we need to arm ourselves to the teeth...because the big bad government is coming to get us.... The "well armed militia" was to protect the new country from OUTSIDE invaders, like Spain, England, the Indian tribes, etc...not from each other!

Yeah...that was ALL the guns. I'm just talking about assault weapons/rifles and high capacity clips. You loons are getting your feathers all ruffled up. What's wrong with just owning a shotgun or pistol with a low capacity clip or a revolver? Answer: Nothing. It will still do the job of protecting you in case some ahole breaks into your house. Besides, you don't have to have good aim at close range with a shotgun!

With RIGHTS comes responsibility! If we expressed our right to carry from young on up, the majority of folks would not fear their own weapon! They would be properly trained and know how to use the da8nm thing! It wasnt that long ago that quakertown high school had a rifle range in the basement! If the shooter knew that folks in that theater were armed we wouldnt be having this discussion! You really should consider buying yourself a gun, and learn how to use it! Obvioulsy your fears are affecting your ability to think clearly! Why do u want to intentionally place yourself in a state of "helplessness", defenseless???

Yes, under normal circumstances, people are responsible, but unless you've had EXTENSIVE law enforcement training, the situation you just posted would have been sheer carnage! If people don't have time to make dinner at night, do you really think they are going to take the time to spend at a rifle range? I don't have fears. I never went deer hunting, but used to use a .22 to shoot rabbits and squirrels when I was younger. Obviously, your paranoia is affecting your ability to think clearly, old lady. Go suck down some more nicotene.

Take a gander at this story! BTW, he was accurate at handling his weapon prior to ebtering the military...not the other way around( as u would want the story to be told)! Richmond, 27, shot his first shotgun at age five and started shooting competitively at 11, but his family never dreamed the Olympics were in his future. http://wnep.com/2012/07/19/sullivan-county-na... Began at the age of 5!!! OHH!!! Bad bad parents...lol

As for the Olympics bound kid...that's target practice, not a real life, split-second, life or death situation like Aurora. We are talking about dozens of scared people in a dark, smoke filled room. If people in the back row would have shot toward Holmes, dollars to donuts says they would have hit fellow moviegoers because it was mayhem in there! You're nuts, you know that?

Youre so silly... A sharp shooter will be just as accurate with a moving target! Next Ur gonna tell me that the military sharp shooters wait for the enemy to stand still before they shoot them?? As far as it being a dark theater...really..that big screen gives off a lot of light... Stories coming out of there how people rescued others...well if they could see to apply pressure to wounds, etc... they could have taken a shot at the perp...
