Gun Laws Debate - London, KY

It's people who seek to harm others, it wasnt a gun that led to one of the most tragic events in our country's history but a group of peopled armed simply with box cutters.Those who mean to do harm to other people , will find a means.Trying to define violent people as those who are gun owners, just shows how ignorant or perhaps how misled people can become when they haven't found themself in a situation where thier life is well and truly threatened.You may be hoping there is someone close by who take his rights seriously at that point and comes to your aid. Either as law enforcement or perhaps a local member of your NRA.

The right to keep and bare arms ring a bell, America?

I shall not raise my voice to debate for something for which there is no debate. It is my right. I will die however to protect my freedom to own firearms.

The Bill of Rights is a paper tiger had it not contained the Second Amendment.

I'd like to see the government try to take my guns. There's no reason to argue over gun laws. It's not all of Americas fault that people decide to go crazy and shoot someone.

We need to restrict ownership of assault weapons and large clips and drum. No civilian needs a rifle with a hundred round clip. When Romney was gov. of Mass. he supported and signed a bill banning assault weapons.

The u.s. needs to abolish all gun laws! i Hate guns but if they exist you should have the right to have and bear them. The people need the ability to feed them selves self sufficiently with out having to turn to capitalism. We the people would like to defend our self, friends, family and community our lords oppressors (politicization police the state) and other gangs just all folks looking to harm, kill, kidnap, extort us or take our bread. A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of the state, the right op the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

weapons are the firearms today the Founders would expect a free people to be armed with. They intended civilians who would make up a militia to be armed just as any soldier would be armed. Consider Tench Cox's statement below if you do not believe the Founders intended Americans to be armed with assault weapons.

is morally justified to use violence when another initiates violence against his person or his property. Self ­defense is one of those "unalienable rights." Governments represent people's efforts to collectively provide self ­defense. We authorize governments to carry out our natural right of self­defense. The only legitimate purpose for government initiation of violence and threats is to prevent or punish those who'd use it against others. By granting government a near monopoly on the use of violence, more order is created and there's less preying upon the weak by the strong. The bottom line is moral government use of force cannot have a purpose exceeding private use of force.

In this country, all government authority has been delegated by the people. Since we possess the natural right of self-defense we can delegate that right to government. That does mean that we the people do not retain that right - only that we can delegate it to provide for a more effective means of self-defense. We delegate that authority to the police for example to provide for our collective defense but we also retain the right to provide for our own individual defense. The police have guns to help provide for our collective defense but we also have the right to arms for our individual defense.

what good is any part of the bill of rights if we have no way to make sure the government doesn't take them away ..the first thing Hitler did was make sure the people were unarmed....he also silenced radio and the free exchange of knowledge..this administration has all ready tried to silence information and now they are working on disarming the population...history repeats if we don't learn from it......

Everyone should carry and use it when nessasary ppl would think if everyone was wearing a gun justice served on site
