If guns are outlawed---only outlaws will have guns
They just need to strictly enforce the gun laws we have on the books now. I did a report in high school on this topic and discovered that over 80% of the gun crimes committed in the US were committed by convicted felons who arent legal to posses a gun in the first place. Dont punish us LEGAL gun carrying citizens because law enforcement cant do there job.

Guns are useless without ammunition. The illegal ammo trade between the U.S. and Mexico is getting a lot of attention, some bullets bring $50-each. That old box of .22s is suddenly as valuable as drugs. We will soon be talking about bullet regulation.

Let me say first of all that I am also a gun owner and do not want more gun legislation. But your argument about someone breaking into your house isn't going to hold up as to the constitutionality of gun rights. Please read the entire second amendment. If legislators and/or the supreme court wish to take your guns away, then they can choose to interpret its meaning as something completely different than what you think it says. The only way to effectively argue your point is to educate yourself more than the anti-gunners out there. If your only argument is for self defense, then you are beat

The anti gunners out there are very well prepared to argue their point. Unfortunately, many people that want to keep their right to own firearms are not. People are too quick to just say that I want my guns in case someone breaks into my house, or I like to hunt, etc. etc. if you want to keep your firearms, join the NRA. Read their publications. Listen to what the anti gun people are saying and what they are concerned about. You don't have to agree with them, but it's common courtesy to listen to their concerns, and then respond with a well thought out and intelligent counterpoint. This issue is not likely to go away anytime soon. Anti gunners arguments are getting stronger with every incident like Colorado. Pro gun people keep arguing to same things over and over and it's not working

So we all go through metal detectors at the movies? Bullet proof glass at the grocery store, encased booths at the club. Dan Cooper is correct, guns aren't going anywhere, but our level of trust is gone. Sounds a whole lot like the drug trade, doesn't it?

throughout all of history people have carried weapons at their side. the japanese had the katana, the native americans the bow, african tribes had their spears, the vikings had broadswords etc etc. children were trained to use these weapons at what we would consider too young of an age and that was "the way it was."
today (even in jurisdictions where it is legal to do so) it is socially unacceptable to carry a firearm, sword or even a large hunting knife on your belt everywhere you go. even another gun owner takes notice when he sees someone walking down the street with a pistol on his belt because modern civilization demonizes weapons and the end result is rape, robbery and the occasional spree killing.
