You actually wish to live where the streets are ruled by guns... Had you ever spent time in a place where you had to have a weapon at arms length at all times (like where present and past military personnel might be or might have been) you might be grateful you live in a place where you can walk down the street without being concerned about being shot every step of the way... Guns do not make the streets safer by any stretch of the imagination.... I am not an advocate of taking guns away from law abiding folks but to think they would would make our country a better place to live is a fantasy.

Somehow I doubt our 357 handguns would be much help when faced with the fire power our government has at its fingertips... Our best defense against an oppressive government is out power to vote, more of us should exercise that right even though it seems very frustrating the choices we seem to have at election time, our handguns are of little use against the likes of a tank and other fighting machines... I spent 12 months within reach of a military rifle in vietnam and am glad I don't have to do that here.

Our guns are an obsession, our freedom has been earned from the inception of our country by our willingness to defend it from other governments... If we lose the will to defend our government from those who wish to do us harm then we will be on the path to our destruction and our personal firearms will be of little value if that time comes.

First of all I support the peoples right to bear arms but also think we need tougher gun laws. There should have been a red flag when 1 person bought thousands of rounds of ammo and 4 guns in the last 60 days. You can buy guns at court days and flea markets all day long and never have to show an ID.

I agree, more stringent gun laws will serve no purpose unless they are enforced and if we don't enforce the ones we have now then why would we bother to enforce new ones... It is true that guns don't kill people, people kill people but it does seem that a lot of the folks that are killed with guns are not intruders in our homes and lives but someone we would not wish to harm... Of all the people who have hurt someone with a gun I wonder how many of the folks who pulled the trigger wishes he/she could un-pull it.

If someone comes into my home I will do what ever it takes to protect my 4 children and myself.

I don't remember reading a post here that advocates taking guns away from law abiding citizens, however I do believe we need cars and kitchen knives more than we need guns, in some things the good out weighs the bad such as cars and kitchen knives... A lot of folks believe the bad influence of guns out weigh the good but I'm not one of those folks, I do understand where they are coming from.

Daily Horoscope for May 18

Cancer

Love could catch you by surprise today. You might be strongly attracted to someone who isn't your usual type at all but who makes your knees go weak all the same, or you could get caught up in an illicit relationship that's exciting because it has to be kept a secret. If you're already involved with someone they'll need plenty of freedom and won't appreciate feeling emotionally tied down. You need to let them off the leash for a short while!
