Citizens should be allowed to own guns, period. The police cannot be everywhere 24/7, and with terrorists sprouting up all over the place, I say everyone should be allowed to own a firearm.

^ Cooke, p. 100. "This is another protection against a possible abuse by Congress. The right protected is really the right of a state to maintain an armed militia, or national guard, as we call it now. In the eighteenth century people feared that Congress might, by passing a law, prohibit the states from arming their citizens. Then having all the armed strength at its command, the national government could overwhelm the states. Such a circumstance has never happened, but this amendment would prevent it. The Second Amendment does not give anybody or everybody the right to possess and use firearms. The states may very properly prescribe regulations and permits governing the use of guns within their borders."
I just read this on Wikipedia.

Here in Australia our country got rid of a lot of guns the government paid very good money for them my brother kept guns at home and the guns he has were band and he handed them and he got more money then he payed for them and brought a motor bike with the money the government paid him and if you have a gun at home you need a safe and not allowed to keep bullets at home in the cities and he was licenced to have a gun when he wanted to use it he went and got bullets at the gun range my perents won't allow guns in the house and i have a riffle at home in a safe but he doesn't keep bullets at home and he uses a riffle as a sport. If you live in the country (the woods) you are allowed to keep a riffle to protect your farm animals but still you need a safe but guns are not allowed in cars in the cities or on you when in the cities the police will ask you for your licence and i have never seen a gun smith around at all and the USA federal garverment should do what we did in Australia years ago and they should crack down on it like Australia firearms should be only for people in the bush (woods)

Guns should be used at a gun range as a sport and keep the bullets at the range

And when some thug is coming through your door or window at 3 a.m., or even 7 p.m., call the owner of the range and see if he or she can get your ammo to you before the thug kills you inside of your own home.

So are you saying the 2nd amendment does not protect the rights of individual to keep and bear arms?

SECOND AMENDMENT:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

More family members and innocents are killed by guns than intruders and thugs.
I was hanging out in a gun shop that a friend of mine owned and a guy came in to pick up a Phoenix 380, ammo and ankle holster he'd bought. The waiting period was up and he'd gotten a concealed permit.
The moron didn't even know how to pop the clip. The shop owner showed him how to load it, took the rounds back out and sent him on his way. About 5 minutes later he comes back in - with the gun loaded - and asks why it did't fire. The gun shop was in a residential neighborhood - it's a good thing the guy didn't know about the safety! The shop owner unloaded it and told him where to take classes. We watched through the door as the imbecile reloaded it and stuck in back in the holster he was wearing.
It takes more training to do a load of laundry than the law requires for a firearm.
This jerk had never fired a weapon in his life, had no clue about weapon safety or maintenance, but he had a concealed carry permit - and you don't think the laws are f'ed up?

Shadow_proc was right? Big gun, little weenie?

The guy I was talking about was a middle eastern businessman. Maybe his name was Jamal? Shot your foot, didn't you? LOL

I have no problem with guns. I don't like the idea of stupid parents leaving a loaded glock on the coffee table for their kids to play with. It happens.
I thought there'd be something interesting on this thread, but it's a fail.
