First of all, I am not anti-gun at all and own more than a few. However, as it is now anyone who can buy a .22 rifle and short rounds is considered just as qualified to own a semiautomatic combat-quality M16 or AK-47. Nobody in the current system cares if he knows how to use it, it's no different from selling a person a car. But, cars are not so universal in their acceptance. In particular I mean that a person has to be specifically trained and qualified to drive larger trucks. The same body that regulates CDLs has stringent requirements that have to be met before they can take such a vehicle on he road, even a drug test. Why? Because an unqualified driver piloting several tons of metal can kill a lot of people. See my point yet?

There has to be more controls and gates in the process. We're a step above the old west I guess. As a veteran who qualified on a semiautomatic and an automatic rifle I can say that it took me more than a casual effort to master them. I was median with the automatic mode and quite good in semi. Prior to that I had only fired shotguns,.22 rifles and a .38 pistol. Just because I could legally own a gun didn't mean the military would just hand me an M16 coming in off the street (sure comes close though). I also think ammunition purchases should be controlled and monitored instead of the current free-for-all (with a buck) system.

Once again, I'm not suggesting that everyone should have their guns taken from them and I would never stand idle and watch it happen. But I think een the NRA would agree that a person who isn't qualified to operate a particular weapon shouldn't. I'm just suggesting a qualification/vetting system for certain classes of weapons. Still, it won't prevent a slippery maniac from getting through the net. But it will likely reduce the crimes of opportunity/passion considerably.

I can read the Constitution and it is the law of the land. I wish our politicians could read it.

The ability to read the Constitution is beyond the conceptual understanding level of so many who were "educated" in our public schools today. They have no concept of what "shall not be infringed" means.

Constitution, Prosecution, Prostitution what ever you want to call it. Over time, it needs to change.

No, I am not saying it needs parts removed, but changed. Get with it. This Constitution was made up over 300+ years ago and things change over time (at least I don't THINK M16's were around then).

Punish the hell out of any crime committed with a deadly weapon. Attempted murder at the least. Leave the laws alone.

The reason I say this is this, people will defend there self from harm, anyway they think is best, so if you try to take all the guns away, they will just find other ways of get there hands on the weapon of choice

Look, people are not kids, we are gods with brains. If you try to take all the guns away from people, people will just get smarter on ways to get a gun.

This will just be a repetition of people try to take something and smarter people finding more way to get them to take it again.

I've even seen people make home-made guns with just the bullet and a pen. So what? are you going to take creative from people as well?

Yes, the US needs to stop selling guns to Mexico so we don't get shot by a bunch of drug dealers.
It should be illegal for foreigners to buy guns in the USA, or from the United Sates Government.

GOD YOU'RE STUPID.

Your post made it sound like it was hard to shoot these guns.

"As a veteran who qualified on a semiautomatic and an automatic rifle I can say that it took me more than a casual effort to master them."

I said: "Couldn't have been too tough, the guy in Colorado had no training and hit a few dozen."

So you come back and say I made your point? Put down the bottle and try again. What an idiot.

A copy of our gun laws are easy to find. Look in the U S Constitution under Bill of Rights, 2nd Amendment. Glad I could help those not able to understand our gun laws.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Gemini

A little give and take goes a long way, so try to be flexible and malleable when dealing with others. It will also pay to ask people what they think rather than to make sweeping assumptions on their behalf, because you could be in for a surprise. A child may have some interesting information for you, or they could make a statement that really sets you thinking.
