Shooter kills 12 and wounds over 50 people with an automatic weapon that was originally designed for use by our soldiers for war. I don't think it was an accident that this crazy committed this violent act.

he did not use an "automatic" weapon! Had you paid attention in rookie school you would know the difference. If you or this scumbag in Colorado had any knowledge of firearms you would know that the shotgun he had is 10 or more times more destructive in close quarters then the SEMI automatic AR-15. Maybe we need to ban quail guns! Naw, how about we just place the blame for this tragedy where it belongs. On the person responsible! It is the criminal pulling the trigger Dummy, not the gun..Why does those people in power have armed security details, and some even have conceal carry permits.

Back to the spoon made me fat logic. Bombs were made with gasoline, I guess it should be banned. To many rounds in the clip, just buy more clips. This is all nonsense and abpout fear.

I voted not at all, US gun laws are restrictive and against our Constitution.
There are only 2 classes of people in the world, those who are law abiding and those who are criminals, the criminals ignore the laws thus the term criminal being applied to them.
Criminals do not care about the law and will always be looking for victims, law abiding citizens will always obey the law gun control measures insure their being made into victims.
The object of government should be to reduce the risk to the law abiding not tip the tables in favor of the criminal by restricting honest law abiding citizens ability to protect themselves..

That is why I hope when the lawsuits over this tragedy are filed, someone actually sues the theater for failing to protect them or provide a safe venue since they prohibited law abiding citizens from fending for themselves by prohibiting legally permitted guns on the premises.

It's pretty tough to determine mental stability unless the person has been adjucated as such previously, that question appears on the paperwork "yellow sheet" all buyers are required to fill out. When that persons name and information is called in it's up to the controlling agencies to determine if that particular buyer should be sold a firearm. What is the point of this post you ask? It's simple Gorky that particular law is already in place. I know it's tough to find new reasons to restrict everyones rights, but just because a nut case went off and hurt others isn't a good reason for more controls nor can a nut case and his dementia be appled to everyone else it's just not possible to stretch this beyond that person to the rest of the population.

If I set an unloaded AR-15 or any firearm on a table ponted in a safe direction with the magazine to the side of it will it load itself and fire with out the help of someone? Will it hurt anyone without the help of a person intent on harming anyone? That would be no and no.
This type of thing is going to happen no matter what, whether it is a bomb, a car driving thru a crowd or a firearm. Some people are just bad people.

Side story - I was in the process of buying a pistol a few months ago and while the store owner was on the phone doing my check, a lady came in acting nervous and stated she "needed a gun", the store owner politely replied that he would assist her when he was done with me. She left saying she would be back. After he got off the phone he told me that even if she comes back he wouldnt sell her anything. I know some of you can spin this to mean that crazy people are always trying to buy guns. However, i see it that gun owners are some of the most careful and responsible people around. How many of you have been in a bar and seen a drunk person continue to be served alcohol?

Well, according to "Tortuga" (Danny Trejo) in Breaking Bad, there are two kinds of people in this world, those who drink, and those who pour. And, in another sense, there are "Offensive people", and "Defensive people". I'm of the latter, I wouldn't harm a fly in an offensive manner. I have enough firearms, and ammo, to cause three counties of swat teams, and police departments a big problem, ala David Koresh, but I have I have a tremendous degree of restraint, wisdom, intelligence, and common sense. I began shooting, and even reloading at age 12 by a wise man who was like a father, a district attorney-lawyer mind you. Firstly, I surely don't wish to spend the rest of my days locked up with a bunch of Sodomites. One other reason is a respect of human life, even those who truly have no life anyway. That's were others can miss the mark, they have no regard, or respect for their own lives, so why should they have any care about another's? This exactly how many Heroin Junkies are. I've seen 1.000's of them in Chicago. They'd take you life for $5, or even take you life after you gave them a $1,000. And that's why I often carried in the windy city. I wasn't about to hurt anyone, but wasn't going to allow anyone shittin on me either. And yep, I'm still here. I found that out 35 years ago in Chi Town, pulling a gun on some ruthless Gang Banger who just sent a family member of mine to the IC Ward of Cook County Hospital. My own personal life was not in danger at that time. Yes, I wanted revenge, a payback, but my own life was in no immediate danger, I would've probably went to prison over shooting some worthless turd such as this. The situation wasn't worth a personal risk I felt. It was NOT self defense I felt. And I live with the consequences of inaction, and also the thoughts of had I acted? I think I made the right choice. Thus, I'm here right now, 35 years later, and God Willing I plan to be for another 35. Long story short, I enjoy my own life, and hope that others enjoy there's. Everyone makes mistakes, but ending a life has no recourse, there's no undoing those actions of taking a life.
