Could be worse, we could be thick skulled Cypriots. Then we wouldn't have the smarts to turn on a computer.

Right, because criminals ONLY use guns. Guess you think it's morally superior for a woman to lay there and get raped rather than having her explain to the authorities how the bullet hole came to be in her rapist's chest.

What is it with you frustrated control freaks? We know you abhor rights and liberties. perhaps you're a rapist yourself?

Just because i did your Mom in her ass 9 months to the day she shat you doesn't mean you can tell people what they can or can't do with respect to Constitutionally protected rights and liberties. Save your breath for your inflatable date!

<quoted text> We have one ofbthe best police department in the country- they protect us on a daily basis.
The NYC police Dept (or any Dept)is under NO legal or moral obligation to protect you. They CANNOT be sued and operate with impunity with regard to said "protection". With that being said, what is there reason then for arming their officers? RIGHT! Personal protection. You're a genius. Now, stay with me here. Police officers are allowed, if not required, to carry their off duty weapon for the reason of......wait for it........YES! Personal protection. Now, from whom? Yes again, the criminal element. Now, if the criminal element has no regard for the law or a law enforcement officer, who is carrying a handgun for personal protection, then why would he give a shit about your little liberal ass kissing life.

It is obvious that the criminal element have no regard for the law, and as such will continue to illegally obtain handguns. As you can see, armed off duty police officers are rarely deliberately targeted by the criminal element. Especially if the criminal knows that his purposed victim is a police officer and likely armed. In those cases, he would look for an easier victim. Say, you instead. The bleeding heart, self hating liberal.

I hope that you are never the victim of a violent attack. But if it does happen, remember that when seconds count, the police are just minutes away. That's if you get a chance to contact 911. A 15 year veteran of the NYPD said to me once that he was tired of guarding home evasion, car jacking....ect victims bodies and that these people should have been allowed to protect themselves. He now believes that if the criminal element knew that the possibility that everyone was carrying, it would be much harder to pick victims to attack and thereby safer for the population.

I don't mind if you make the choice to be unarmed. Just don't force it on the rest of us. We can make our own choices. After all, isn't that what America is all about.

Mute point - it's in the constitution. And i guess your argument covers the fact that we are running scare from the terrorist that wish to kill us but are unable to get it done. I wonder why? Oh and yes according to you the criminals are running the streets - get real and off that fantasy cloud.

the police department is there as first line of defence - if that fails then we can move to phase two, but why in such a hurry to shoot someone? besides how in the hell you suggest i carry my desert eagle in a crowded subway train - a poor lady might think im poking her and call the cops, next thing you see everyone is shooting - maybe i should just carry my long barrel 357 - well that would work either - well i guess my 22 will do, but then again thats a $50 fire arm and is not really my style - i guess if i could somehow get my old 38 especial back - that could do the trick. you know what -forget about it,, I dont want to be carrying a gun in the subway - you know how it is to carry a gun - start feeling like clint eastwood or maybe my father's favorite - charles bronson - next thing you see i'm doing 25 years for shooting some scumbag.

Really? Not when you say something stupid like "It's a mute point"?
Not when you dodge the fact that you were corrected on a Constitutional matter like the fact that police have no legal obligation to protect the public?
So tell us oh wise one, just where the "stooping" took place. Can do? Will do?

Oh? So you dispute the Dept. of Justice Crime numbers? The FBI Uniform Crime Report numbers are lying too? Well Mr. Expert, pony up with evidence to refute those agencies.

BZZZZT! Wrong!! Everybody is responsibke for their own safety. They have the right to use force necessary to thwart or eliminate that threat. That is first!

Who is "we" and what is this "phase 2" BS? And why are you being so protective of criminals? Professional courtesy?

Right. Is that because it's happened thousands of times already? Or is it because you make it a habit to stand too close to ladies on the subway?
Got news for you, criminals ALREADY carry weapons on subway trains.

So obviously you can't trust yourself to carry but you'll project this inadeuacy onto others you don't even know. Talk about stooping!! You never had credibility in here.
