I oppose, it seems that there was an attempted home invasion in beaver county on 9/22/10 where a resident took his handgun and shot one of the perpetrators after they fired a shot at him. The would be robbers then fled and were later picked up by the police.

Home defense is a very good cause for handgun ownership, especially in high crime areas IMO.

A ban on handguns will give the criminal free rein on innocent citizens, as you ALL well know. You're NOT stupid leaders....you're just out to feed the needs of the people with endless demand...a vote for you, in exchange for a perk, for them. We may as well put a HUGE billboard in front of our homes that reads "well, the government toiled and harrassed we liscensed, law-abiding citizens, until they succeeded in being able to take yet another right away from us, and stop any opposition to us protecting ourselves, should you decided to make us your victims".

The only gun control that makes sense is "Hitting what you aim at".

The amendment clearly places gun ownership in the context of "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State...", hence the capability of the government to pass laws regulating gun ownership.

That said, there ain't nobody gonna take Americans' guns. Period. There simply isn't anywhere near a majority of Democrats or Republicans, alone or together, to legislate it. This is another "bogey-man" issue trotted out by the extreme right for the mid-term elections to allow fear to drive our elections.

You think it's crazy to bring it up, Boogie? Don't you realize that if we don't start speaking up, guarding our position, our illustrious leaders can assume the idea of abolishing handguns is in agreement with what the majority wants? If you had a favor in mind, wouldn't you give it a shot?

It guarantees our right to bear arms as "ordinary" USA citizens, or members of a militia? I've come to realize that my freedoms are dependent on the interpretation of leaders/judges, etc. That doesn't guarantee ANYONEs rights, as far as I'm concerned...unless, of course, you want to count the special interest groups who offer favors, for favors.

"But they can't do that...the Constitution guards against it"...HA! They can do whatever we'll allow 'em to do!! Give 'em the chance, by keeping your name out of the mix, out of fear, OR, like many, waiting for others to make up enough of a majority...THEN see how safe your rights are. We mean nothing, when we stand alone...and we all have to realize that. We need to unite as a ...speak up, as ONE body.

A ban would only disarm the honest people. It is our constitutional right to own and bear arms.

It's unconstitutional first and foremost. It keeps people from being able to defend themselves. It consolidates power in an unbalanced way that favors the government.

The right to bear arms is a natural right that preexists the government so the government has no right to control or ban it anymore than it can put controls on the pursuit of happiness.

We have the right to bear arms and defend ourselves and our families.
Just because you take my handgun does not take the gun from the bad guy. Go after the bad guys and, like in many other countries, anyone committing a crime using a deadly weapon, automatically gets the maximum sentence. No excuses.
