It is not the handgun that commits the crime, it it the person. The gun by itself will not hurt anyone.

To ban handguns would require a Constitutional Amendment to repeal the Second Amendment.

I have always been taught that the purpose of the Second Amendment was to afford the people the ability to fight a national government which no longer obeys the will of the people, much like we see today.

There is always less crime where Law Abiding Citizens are armed. Besides, criminals will never give up their weapons anyway.

I would support a ban. There are too many children dying. There are too many accidents. There are too many people who (when armed) believe they are tough. Yet, there are too few examples of someone who successfully defended themselves from a "real" threat.

Really? How many is "too" many? There are also too many children dying in automobile collisions. Are you looking to have those banned too?

How many is "too" many? How many is acceptable?

How many is that? You've been long on too much this, too much that and short on numbers or statistics.
Please elucidate us.

Really? Here...look at this.

Read all of the studies and then come back and tell us how "few" lives are saved from a "real" threat.

I'm coming from the heart not some political pro gun or anti lobby. Cars serve a real purpose so banning them would be absurd. The NRA has its stats that support their cause and the anti gun lobby has theirs. Stop following and start leading.

I'm coming from a rights and liberties angle.

Really? How is it that people lived until the 1900's without them?

No, the stats are there from the Dept. of Justice. Stop bleating and start thinking.
Funny you couldn't refute any of the 13 studied pointed to in that link. None of which beliged to the NRA. Why is that?
Or do you believe that it is morally superior for a woman having to walk through a dimly lit parking lot to merely give in to the whims of her attacker/rapist/potential murderer rather than being able to explain to the authorities how that bullet hole came to be in his chest?

BTW, you may want to consider coming from the head rather than the heart. It's a wiser choice. Why? Because in case you didn't notice, criminals have no heart.

Stop living in fear. Live your life. You have nothing to fear. The boogie man is not coming any time soon.

I'm not liiving in fear. I'm living in reality. It is you and your fears about inanimate objects that is obvious.
Also obvious is your lack of addressing those questions brought before you. Why is that?
Why do you loathe rights and liberties?

The boogie man can still get you when you're armed. Things happen in firefights. You would know this if you had been in one. The firearm does not mean automatic protection. It's not that simple. Scared people like you with guns is a terrible idea.
