Gun Control Debate - Midland, MI

Some of the most dangerous cities in America have the toughest gun control laws. Reality is that when you take guns from the good guys, then the only ones who have them are the bad guys.

Your comment suggests that you are against a ban on handguns. Yet you voted for it. Moron.

I do not want to lose our guns we have in our home. I do believe if we get them taken, only the bad will have them too.

Actually I did not vote to support a ban, I clicked oppose, but it did not register my vote (pissed me off that it didnt), but it did take my comment, and I am oppose to any gun ban.

Actually, the more I think about it, since I voted against it, perhaps your the one who voted to support it, so that would make you the moron in my book.

I'm shocked at how many in Mi are opposing a gun ban. how it's worded makes it unclear to me. maybe many others have had their votes misrepresented as well. I think we should keep our guns! They're taking away our rights little by little.

I wonder if all the crime in Saginaw, Flint, Detroit is done with legal and registered guns? all those Sat. nite specials bought legally? Sure they are. Those are the people that will still have guns when they take them away from us.

Thats why I didn`t vote...There`s alway a catch that makes you believe one thing and means another. I just do not want my guns taken or rights taken.

Its a constitutional right.

Does anyone really beleive that if there were ever a gun ban, that gang members and criminals would show up to turn in their weapons? I for one feel much more comfortable knowing that my CPL and Glock 26 give me a fighting chance to protect my wife and I. Hopefully I am never put in that position, but the way things are going in this world, who knows.

WHAT? You mean if they make it a law not EVERYBODY will abide by it? You mean to tell me those ghetto scum and the likes of will not throw down their weapons until they get them licensed and registered?

It can't be, say it ain't so! It it's a LAW then they'll have to take a class, license and register, right? Otherwise they'll just be breaking the law! By stealing, killing, bullying with an unregisterd gun and that would be just wrong!

Just remember, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away!

If the government takes our guns away only criminals will have guns. Is that what you want? If you think crime is bad now...when the criminal knows the store or home owner doesn't have a gun what is to deter him from breaking in? We do need laws that protect our children from getting ahold of guns, if a parent leaves his/her gun where a child can get to it and he injures himself so someone then the parent needs to be held responsible. Owning a gun is not only a right but it also comes with a great responsibility.

the colorado shooter had legal guns. there was a sign on the theater that guns were not allowed. he broke the law by going into that theater with his guns. too bad some others didn't break the law and take theirs in.

No valid law would disallow self defense.

Banning guns would only take guns away from law abiding citizens. It would not effect criminals or people who want a gun to kill or commit a crime. They would simply obtain them illegaly
